We preferred the former as abundance of chocolate pearls covered freshly made crepe drizzled with thick chocolate sauce made of Valrhona cocoa powder and 70% cacao chocolate. Whereas the latter while pretty doesn't have any WOW factor. But plus point is they have Papa Palheta coffee and is cozy enough for an afternoon tea.

"I like this," says the boyfee; and I swear that's the biggest vote of confidence any café can get cause he has the grumpiest face ever and is hardly ever impressed. Every component of this "Foot Long" Full English Breakfast (S$24++) was spot-on. The foot-long sausage was grilled perfectly, with a nice char, lovely crunch on the casing, while juicy and moist on the inside; salad was seasoned well; eggs as well-poached as can be; and the homemade baked beans were lovely and had a nice bite. Attention to small details as in the homemade mayo and tiny dots of truffle aioli made it all the better.

First time trying truffle and chocolate combination which I must say it's queer, but it does grows on you with more bites. But truffle is only on the top chocolate layer, the base is still a normal chocolate cake with chocolate mousse.

This soft and fluffy pancake is topped with berry fruit compote, passion fruit curd and cornflake crumb which added an extra crunch. This unique rendition is unlike your usual ricotta Hotcake. So happy 📦ing day!

We only had tummy space for 1 item so it had to be their signature Buckwheat Pancake. So pretty, dainty and yum. Loved the crisp edges while the rest of it remained fluffy. Wanna be back to try other stuff!

Populus's Buckwheat Pancake ($20) which is served pipping hot in a pan. Fluffy pancake decorated with berry fruit compote, passionfruit curd and cornflake crumb, it is both insta-worthy and delightful. Drizzle some thyme infused maple syrup over for a sweeter experience.

This black beauty seriously had put many mediocre charcoal waffles to shame. You can taste the distinctive roasted black sesame flavor in every bite, with the subtle flavor of miso caramel sauce complementing it. The black chocolate coated vanilla ice cream does prevent itself from melting fast but personally I think it will be even better with a black sesame ice cream instead, for black sesame lover like me.

Back at the newly expanded Montana brew bar with their updated menu and boy, was it refreshing. They have included a section of specialty coconut infused cold brew with various flavor palettes.
The yuzu had contrasting bitter tones between the zesty yuzu citrus and the coffee. The underlying coconut was the tying factor that brought unity to the drink. Definitely worth a try for any yuzu lovers.
Monster loves coconut coffee.

Given the affordability of the set lunch, this is definitely one of the best deals around for wagyu beef don. The onsen egg was super oozy and the beef definitely did not disappoint. Not particularly a fan of chargrilled steak but this one was still really good as the char taste wasn't too overpowering 😊

Singaporean's Guide To Ulu Café Hopping

Price Range: $8-$16

Nearest MRT: Tanjong Pagar/Telok Ayer

Instagrammability: Moderate -
The Deli packs all sandwiches to-go.

Food:
1) PB&J Sandwich [$8.00]
"I was sent to Cloud 9 immediately." (Tay, 2015)
Oozing in peanut butter, lathered with chocolate & jelly, and crusted with heaps of cornflakes, my only gripe is my personal peanut dislike. Sub it out with hazelnut, pistachio or macadamia, and I'd probably love it as well.

2) Cheese Steak [$16.00]
At first, we were hesitant to drop $16 on a sandwich. But it's TOTALLY worth it.
PBD describes it as "sliced beef many many", and it's not a superlative. The sub looks almost made by a child; overstuffed with as many well-marinated, tender beef slices as the bread can carry, broiled in molten cheese, and doing away with any green formalities. Caramelized onions will be the only accepted vegetable here.

There was so much beef, lumps kept falling out of my sandwich and the thing still looked full. That's how much meat you're getting; when you lose meat to the floor and you ain't even mad.
I even remember just sitting in silence, working through a substantial half of the sandwich and going, "This is great."

The place literally overlooks Amoy Street Food Centre, but if you're feeling rich & in the mood for a quick Western bite, definitely check out Park Bench Deli.

Come Here: Again.

It's no wonder people love the coffee at Sarnies; it's light acidity and robust flavour profile simply is the best of both worlds!

This coconut soft serve melted so fast! (Or it could be the crazy afternoon sun.) And it is pretty pricey considering it's $6.50 without toppings and any additional toppings ranges from $0.50 to.. $4? I opted for cacao nibs ($2) for its crunch but it was so bitter I felt a little miserable eating this plus the kinda bland tasting soft serve. I guess I don't do healthy 💁🏻
