happy Chinese New Year Eve! 🎊 with only two choices on the food menu today because they're only open for half-day since it's CNY eve, we decided to try both, which were the Oven Baked Molten Eggs ($12.90) and the Pepperoni & Cheese Sandwich ($11.50), and also got the Earl Grey Croissant with Toasted Hazelnuts ($4.20) from the pastry section. i accompanied them with a cup of Caffe Mocha ($4.80). the Oven Baked Molten Eggs had poached eggs which were perfectly cooked i fell in love with it immediately 😍 i loved every bite of the Pepperoni & Cheese Sandwich, the combination of Rocket Salad, Tomatoes and Pepperoni made every bite oh so flavourful! if you love sugary food, you would love the Earl Grey Croissant with Toasted Hazelnuts. it was such a unique flavour for a croissant, though i would prefer it to be more flaky. i must say the staff were really friendly and sweet! the open concept this cafe has makes this place very instagrammable. i would definitely want to come back again to try the other food on the full menu!

Great place for an affordable sushi fix. Got the Kaisen don ($14.80 nett) which had a good ratio of seafood to rice. Rice had a good balance of sweetness and vinegar. The tamago mentaiyaki ($8.80) was good too. Smokey and rich mentaiko dressing with Japanese omelette which went well with the plain rice. Also had the salmon aburi mentai sushi which was disappointing as it tasted like a mouthful of sauce.

Of the selection of Baos, we had the Chili Crab ($18) - technically a Chili Crab with Fried Man Tou combination that could never go wrong when you are in Singapore. Saving on the dirty hands moments with crispy fried holding the crab meat and sauce within. The sauce went all out with the spiciness creating a numbness effect. Extra sauce to dip with, though I felt it was rather unrequired as there were sufficient sauce with the baos already.

Taking a local tzechar classic and putting it into fusion cafe fare concept, the salted egg prawns were a tad old in terms of texture but does carry enough flavour that evokes familiar tzechar memories with fried curry leaves, chopped chili and other ingredients within a fluffy Mantou bun. Didn't quite like the plain greens that came beside without any dressing; certainly something I was not expecting at a dish that costs $15.

Golden interstellar salted egg yolk sauce oozing out of the once familiar traditional 'Kong Bah Bao' with the companion of fresh crunchy prawns, giving it a twist of flavors to the traditional Bao. The taste of salted egg yolk is kind of subtle which fails to bring out the original glamor of a salted egg yolk. I would wish for a more intensified salted egg yolk sauce and maybe with some remnants in it!

Very flavorful combination!!!! Quinoa was tasty and addictive, salmon was nicely grilled, and mushrooms were just 😍😍😍 mix them all together and YUMMMMM 👅 (although the rice was slightly cold... piping hot dish is always better!!!) topped up the lunch combo with lemon pie as desert- that was heavenly. Loved the crumbs at the bottom plus the little sourness at the top, it's worth that extra dollars!! 😊

Yes, yes, yes. Loved the ambience, loved the company, loved the foooooood. And my new found love for quinoa!!! And we also tried the smashburger sushiritto roll, but that was nothing compared to the rice bowls.

One heck of a damn good sushi roll: sweet shreds of crabmeat and crunchy tempura flaked tucked into rice, draped with snapper sashimi, and dressed with yuzu and truffle sauce.

That dressing was THE BOMB. Never expected citrusy yuzu to go with truffle oil, but it was magical.

The folks at Grain Traders allow you to pick your grains (Japanese rice, brown rice & quinoa etc), proteins (chicken, beef, salmon etc), veggies, topping and sauces.
It might be a little pricey but trust me, it is worth your every penny. Besides, wholesome food is worth paying for!
My dining partner and I tried the salmon bowl, as well as the grilled strip loin bowl. The bowls are filling with a generous serving of ingredients. For those who haven't been there, it's located at 138 Market Street, Capitagreen building.
This will be my submission for HerWorld Plus social media award's clean food category. As I have been selected for one of the finalist for the food category, I feel grateful for the nomination and selection.

Luckily we managed to hit this place before the crowd comes in at 12pm. Featuring here are our Hero Bowls ($16): The Beebop and Rooster's Crow

Say aloha to the food trend that is sweeping all across the world — poke (pronounced 'poh-kay'). A staple of the Hawaiian islands for centuries, poke bowls are salads that feature marinated raw fish, much like its chirashi counterparts from Japan. In fact, the original poke flavour that sees the freshly cut sashimi cubes tossed in a sweet marinade, is a nod to the strong Japanese influence on the Hawaiian islands. While yellow fin tuna is the default choice of fish in Hawaii, Aloha Poke also offers salmon as an alternative base, alongside a vegetarian option. For lunch, choose from three different sizes (one, two or three scoops of poke). Go for the standard Nalu (2 scoops, $15.90) with this winning combination — 150g of original tuna and wasabi mayo salmon with brown rice and avocado, topped with flying fish roe and cherry tomatoes. Every bowl comes with a slice of lime, bite-sized pineapples and scallions on the side. You may also opt for the spicy flavour if you prefer some heat. Come by in the evening for the Roasted Pork Belly ($12) served with pineapple cubes, washed down with either a pint of ice cold Hawaiian Kona Beer ($13.90) or a Mauna Loa cocktail ($18) at the newly launched Tiki Bar (in a cute Tiki mug of course)! Pro tip: order your salads one day in advance via email to beat the queue.
