Served warm, the crisp and slightly chewy mochi donut was jazzed up with salted caramel, a dusting of kinako, and almond brittle for an added crunch. As for the soft serve, the delectable speculoos-like Cookie Butter triumphed Matcha many times over, the latter being disappointingly weak in flavour.

Now due to the high demand, you have to add another $1 just for Salted Egg Yolk sauce. You can also choose to have a scoop or two ice cream like we did. We went for Earl Grey Lavender and Butter Beer which is $4.50 for each as they fall under Premium flavours. I personally prefer the latter which has a malty alcoholic taste, but will I travel all the way to East for it again? Maybe not, I'll probably just stick to Wimbly Lu's waffles
Created by owner-mixologist-chef Edwin, "The Final Gift" is a strong cocktail that's basically the classic Chinese brew of red dates with dried longan but spiked with a bitter alcohol (sorry, I've forgotten its name - such is the result of potent drinks! 😆). I liked it a lot for its fragrance and multi-dimensional sweetness. Plus it really warmed my belly in a comforting way.
If I had to nominate a plated dessert that symbolises prettiness, I'd say this would be it. Utterly feminine in looks and flavour, this froufrou creation has a light and crunchy base of rose meringue filled with lychee compote and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. "Floating" just above is a ooh-worthy cloud of spun sugar.
Lovely as it is, I recommend sharing this. Unless you have a very sweet tooth.
How charming is this concept - it's an edible version of a terrarium! Every component of this "tiny garden" has been created with care to be combined into a most picturesque dessert. Within the clear plastic sphere, you can dig into dark chocolate mousse, passionfruit parfait, caramelised banana flambé with dark rum, light cocoa sponge cake with dark rum and smoked almond nougoutine. The mini size would be just right for one or two persons. Large groups can consider having the 1 kg option ($120). I'm not sure if it requires to be ordered in advance though. Best to call and check.
From Hot Pans at The Bedok Marketplace, a new stall which serves Dutch Baby Pancakes. This was a classic flavour that can't get wrong; caramalised apples, apple cubes, raisins, cinnamon and salted caramel ice-cream atop a Dutch Baby Pancake served in a small pan. The pancake was eggy and crepe-like, crisp on the edges though it gets a little bit denser further in. At $7.50, this is possibly one of the most affordable baby pancakes you can get; would probably try their classic variant when I am back in the area some day.
Definitely one of the better Benedicts I've had in Singapore. Goes well with a cheeky work brunch Bloody Mary. They usually have exciting add ins to your Bloody Mary like Bacon, olives and dill pickles. Couldn't get any of those today sadly.
If the the outlet at Simpang Bedok is not convenient, you can always go the the outlet at Upper Thomson. Badoque is a halal-certified restaurant so Muslims can dine with a peace of mind. Please read my review at www.hungryghost.sg
Their famous butter pork ribs along with XO fish sliced hor fun and garlic stir fry kai lan. Damage-$23
Super crispy, lightly battered baby squid that wasn't the least bit oily. Paired with a sweet and sour tangy Thai chili sauce, we gobbled this up in no time at all. And what better way to celebrate our birthday than to highlight the amazing Singaporean entrepreneurs? Happy Birthday Singapore! May our culinary scene continue to grow (Y)
