Have long wanted to give this Orh Nee cake a try and am glad I finally did. Was surprised to find bite sized chunks of yam nestled within the lusciously smooth, velvety puree layered in between the cakes, offering some sort of textural variation from the soft, vanilla sponge. Crowned with a generous amount of chantilly cream and crunchy white chocolate pearls, it's amazing how they managed to ace the ratio of each element to make sure they all come together to form such a delicate cake. Definitely worth the hype!⁣

Ordered the supposedly more famous rosti and pancake, taste was above average but definitely not worth the wait. Queue was long and moving slowly, husband Please take note if your wife is pregnant.

Coffee was a plus point, just takeaway it and save all the hassle. ☕

Taste:7/10
Return: Nope

sadly the 1 for 1 does not apply to brownie nor choc swiss roll. was told by the staff that the vanilla swiss roll was the most popular cake but thought it was ok only. regardless the orange pound cake does not disappoint, sweet but balances nicely with a cup of tea. will be back to try the gelatos: :)

Chicken thigh, chicken breast, shimeji shiitake mushroom, vegetables (2 pcs) & half-boiled egg. We also paid $1 more to upgrade it to the spicy tendon sauce! We loved this! They were really generous w the rice & the tendons. The tendons were also crispy & not soggy, so there was a satisfying crunch whenever we bit into it - what we always look for when we eat tendon! The chicken was also tender & not dry! We prefer the spicy tendon sauce to the normal one bc it gave an extra kick to the dish, which we really enjoyed. The egg was also perfectly poached, so the rice was coated in the glorious egg yolk. Each bowl of tendon also came w miso soup & chawamushi + a salad so it’s really value for money. Highly recommended! Heard that the queue is always long for this outlet but we went at like 12pm on a Saturday & we only waited for 5 mins before we were seated! 👍🏼

Tucked away in a hipster food centre at Simpang Bedok, @theburningoaksg had been on my foodie bucket-list for the longest time ever since they were highly recommended on @foodkingnoc. Serving an array of Japanese donburis at decent prices, the ones featured are the crowd favourites.

Simply delicious and hearty. Enough said.

Pang’s Hakka Delicacies’s abacus seeds (算盘子). Self collection at Antoinette between 11am-2pm, we collected slightly before 2pm on Saturday and ordered through their WhatsApp few days before.

Not sure if it’s because it has been precooked and packed way beforehand but by the time we took our first try at 5pm without heating it, it was actually very hard. We didn’t like it very much, felt that there wasn’t much yam to it and the fried shallots were too little. Very disappointed due to the highly raved reviews, prolly won’t be getting it again.

Price: $9

The yam abacus and the salt chicken are amazing. Superb and tasty. We also like the yong tau hoo with mince meat.

Fairly cheap too. dishes here for 2 persons less than $40. We rate this 9/10. Excellent.

Good for brunch with a friend is this tiny minimalistic Japanese bakery just a short walk away from UE square. Order the satisfying and incredibly tasty Fluffy Shokupan Sandwich ($8.50) that sees big chunks of egg mixed with creamy mayo. Simple but also yummy is the Butter Cinnamon Sugar Toast ($3.50) with crisp edges and a fluffy centre blanketed in cinnamon, butter and sugar. Grab an Almond Croissant ($5) to-go for a truly decadent tea time treat at home — it’s perfect when paired with black coffee.
