Garden Street Kway Chap is probably my new favourite kway chap spot. Ingredients are fresh and it’s surprisingly light. Ironically I didn’t get any offals from here and instead opted for their pork belly set. I’ll try their intestines next time.

I don’t think I’ve eaten at Collin’s before? But this was surprisingly good and I’m impressed by the portion size. Got the fish and chips ($9) and mixed grill ($15) and albeit pricey, it’s quite worth it considering how good the food is + portions. I also like how they give lots of vege so you feel healthier after eating lol

I think this is a relatively new restaurant at Fortune Centre! They specialise in handmade pasta in interesting variations. Got the Lamb Merguez ($16.90/$23.90) and Mentaiko ($16.90/$23.90) Both were fantastic. Especially liked the Mentaiko which wasn’t as cloying as I had expected it to be so I didn’t feel sluggish after eating it. Recommend calling in first to book a slot cos they were packed when we arrived!

Just discovered Yan Ji Seafood Soup and this is probably my favourite seafood soup in singapore. It’s on the pricier end with soups starting from $13 but it’s worth it cos the portion sizes are massive and the amount of ingredients in each bowl is insane. Look at the size of the crayfish!! Madness.

Visited Burger Bar New York the other night and we love how it’s so secretively hidden in a back alley! Made us feel like we were some secret society members 😬 they sell a series of no-frills burgers here that really hit all the right spots. Portion sizes were also surprisingly massive and we left feeling very full and content. Would recommend it if you’re in the Telok Ayer area!

Recently checked out Sumo Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee, the sister shop of famous Sumo Big Prawn. This stall sells Hokkien mee, fried carrot cake etc and we tried the Hokkien mee. Was a little disappointed because we thought that these would be cooked fresher on the spot but the guy manning the stall simply scooped up some noodles leftover in an unheated wok and served it to us. Thankfully noodles were still warm. Taste wise it was decent too and had plenty of umami, but overall it could be fresher.

Fantastic BBQ experience at On Dol! They’re located along that famous Tanjong Pagar street that’s filled with BBQ restaurants. Excellent cuts of meat and our server was a sweet old man who helped us cook everything. Worth every cent!

Tried the TikTok famous Xiao Long Kan which some claim to be better than HDL. Came with average expectations and left disappointed. The soup base here is horrible. We ordered the mala and pork broth. Pork tasted diluted, MSG filled chicken soup while the mala was extremely oily (I’d say that there was more oil than soup). That aside, beef strips, beef balls and pork were good, but other than that I found the rest of the ingredient options to be mediocre. Also, don’t come here expecting HDL standard service. Staff here are polite but they won’t treat your like royalty so manage your expectations. It’s an okay-ish hotpot place but comparing it to HDL is like comparing apples and oranges.

Revisited Yuan Fried Hokkien Mee at Ghim Moh Food Centre after 3 years and I was surprised to find that the quality has improved a lot! Right off the bat, the wok hei was super intense and evenly distributed towards the dish. The prawn stock used to cook the noodles was also very rich and packed with umami. The prawns were also pretty big for Hokkien Mee prawns. Definitely will be back.

Discovered this gem of an Italian restaurant called Lucca Trattoria and it’s located at Robertson Walk. Prices here are on the more affordable end matches up to the quality of food. The Frutti Di Mare (seafood) pizza was excellent, seafood was fresh and crust was on point. Also just the right size for 2 pax. Will be back!

Was surprised to find such fantastic pasta at a bar! This crab and clam pasta is from Mischief which is located in Esplanade. Was expecting a full on tomato base but this was mixed with a little cream to neutralise the tartness of the tomatoes. Pasta was Al dente and seafood was super fresh as well. Portion size was also extremely generous!
