A lovely chicken bowl from Chimis! The amarillo rice, pico de gallo, tender and juicy chicken and salad were amazing ingredients on their own. When mixed together, each bite was simply a flavour bomb of sweet, spicy, savoury and earthy flavours! I added more habanero sauce for that extra kick and it was superb. A really delicious bowl for lunch or dinner, and paired really well with their cocktails too!

This famous salted egg chicken rice does have its highs and lows. A generous portion of salted egg sauce was slathered over the chicken which was surprisingly juicy. While the sauce was generous in quantity, it suffered in its quality and could use a tad bit more salt. I would have also preferred a runny egg to combine flavours.
Still, with a great price point, I would return if I am in the area to try their other dishes as well.

A lovely time at Q-Wa Yakitori and Bar with Hoshay's plant based products. While plant based foods have a distinct taste that can be told apart from the meaty counterparts, Hoshay's dishes really hit the mark on flavour. The crispy chicken totally blew me away with its texture and taste. If not told beforehand, I would have definitely accepted this as normal chicken karaage. The Teriyaki unagi nailed the taste as well but the texture was just shy off the normal unagi. Still, both dishes really elevated my expectations for more plant based foods.

Pleasantly surprised by these two Udon from Idaten. The Garlic chicken was superbly coated with the spice and mixing everything together provided for a balance of spicy and savoury flavours that I really enjoyed. But the star was the mentai carbonara. I did not expect this to work. But the ebi was fresh, the carbonara and mentai complementing one another with their sweet and savoury flavours. A rich udon that did not feel surfeiting at all. The enoki and chicken fillet were separate additions that were standard but still great.
A quaint place with many outlets! I'm sure to head back for a casual lunch or dinner.

An amazing vegan custard Danish that really surprised me! The custard itself paralleled the texture of actual custard and the flavour was rather eggy as well. The pastry was crispy and flaky. With the powdered sugar, this Danish impressed me with its balance of flavours and I will definitely get this again.

Tony's cafe serves some quality economic rice or cai fan. There is a good variety of meats and vegetables, and they tasted really food. I especially loved the black pepper pork as it was so tender and eat slice was coated fully in the sauce. The fried chicken, egg tofu, cabbage and brocoli were also well cooked but they did not stand out.
Prices are rather steep here as it cost $6.60 for 2 meat and 2 veg. While I don't mind heading back to try their meatballs which is said to be great, I don't think I'll frequent them due to the price.

Tender beef atop a bed of steaming rice and an onsen egg? There's a winning combination. The cook on the beef was superb, with a great crust and a perfect medium rare. I enjoyed each bite as the yolk coated the rice and beef in each bite.
The bowl could have used a sauce at the side to elevate it further to provide another dimension. Still, that's just a minor gripe and I'll head back for this bowl. A delicious yakiniku don from Tanuki Raw! I have to admit, the portion size had set my expectations low and I would have preferred a tad bit larger bowl. Still, the beef was super tender and well seasoned. They were generous with the beef as well, and the rice coated with runny egg made for the perfect bed.
I loved how well balanced the flavours were and will definitely return for this!

Morganfield's might not be known for their nachos, but this hefty bowl really hits the spot! This came loaded with crispy nachos, chilli con carne, tender pulled ribs, sour cream and jalapeños. A wave of flavours washed over me with each bite, ranging from sweet, savoury, spicy to earthy. I absolutely loved the inclusion of sour cream as it balanced out the pulled ribs superbly.
This is definitely a great appetiser for your meal at Morganfield's. Do try it out!
