Truffle Yakiniku Don ($18) @tanukiraw

Overall: 8/10

A delicious yakiniku don from Tanuki Raw! I have to admit, the portion size had set my expectations low and I would have preferred a tad bit larger bowl. Still, the beef was super tender and well seasoned. They were generous with the beef as well, and the rice coated with runny egg made for the perfect bed.

I loved how well balanced the flavours were and will definitely return for this!

Chicken cutlet curry rice ($4.50) @ Yishun Park Hawker Centre

Overall: 8/10

I absolutely love this curry rice! A good level of spice with a thick curry and crispy and tender chicken. What else could I ask for? An old couple makes this curry rice and I always like seeing them work together. A favourite of mine and of many others, Nanyang Curry will always see many more visits!

Who doesn't love a great plate of bee hoon with some fried meat? Cheap, delicious and always a go to meal for me. The sambal from this stall is an absolute bomb of flavour and spice. I usually mix everything to coat the bee hoon with the sambal and enjoy every single bite. Hit me up with your hawker recommendations and I will check them out!

The newly opened Orange & Teal definitely had a great ambience. A place for you to chill while reading or have banter with friends. I have to be upfront that the pictures on the menu did not look great and perhaps that will be improved soon! Luckily, the dishes that came were really delicious!

The poulet roti was fantastic. A huge and juicy herb-crusted chicken thigh. I was surprised by the cook on the chicken, as the skin was really crispy and flavourful; yet the meat was tender and juices overflowed, also having the same flavour as the skin. The accompanying pumpkin and zucchini were also cooked well and could have perhaps used a slight roast to elevate their flavours.

I was not expecting to find Jambalaya here, and boy I was glad I did. Each bite was savoury, spicy, nutty with sweetness provided from the accompanying vegetables. The prawns were juicy and its flavour from having a slight char on top also elevated this dish. My only gripe was towards the end of the plate, where the rice was a tad bit wet. If the rice was cooked by a bit longer, this dish would have been complete.

Overall, I will definitely be back to Orange & Teal. A great start and all the best to them! Prices are cafe standard and there is no service charge and GST!

There is a promotion at Overeasy for 1-for-1 burgers from Tuesday to Thursday, between 5pm to 6.30pm!

Thick, juicy burgers sold at Overeasy! The truffle burger was a winner for me. A well-seasoned, juicy wagyu beef patty topped with swiss cheese, sauteed onions and mushrooms, all smothered with truffle mayo. It was a flavour bomb in my mouth. I love burgers that do not have lettuce or tomato, focusing on onions, cheese and letting the patty shine. This burger did exactly that. The fries were rather standard, but no complaints there. Definitely get this burger when you are there!

Overall, you can give this place a try! It has great vibes for drinks and you can use the 1 for 1 promotion during the time period stated above! Prices are definitely are higher here, but it is a good for groups!

The "To-die-for Burger". The patty was indeed juicy, but the burger felt disjointed as compared to the truffle burger. I could not taste the special burger sauce. The cheddar, lettuce, tomato and pickles, although fresh, took away the enjoyment of the burger. I hoped the burger could be more coherent, but it still nailed the beef patty and it was overall a good burger.

The Complete Burger came with a buttered bun, a really thick beef patty, lettuce, tomato, red onions, pickled cucumber, smoked bacon, cheddar cheese and an egg. From the looks of it, the burger looked really appetising. However, the flavours of the burger did not meet its aesthetic. The bun was soft and well toasted, the cheddar cheese, pickled cucumber and bacon provided for strong complementary flavours for the beef. However, the beef patty itself was rather bland. The patty could have used more seasoning and despite it being really juicy, it did not carry the burger. The egg was cooked through as well, and I would have preferred it to be either runny or in the middle. It was a hefty burger, and it made me full. But it can be improved. Worth a try!

The Hashstack comprised of hashbrown, scrambled eggs and house-made jam.

The hashstack was more mellow , but the house-made jam gave a refreshing taste when eating it with scrambled eggs and the hashbrown. Overall, a solid place to get some bagels and study!

The Classic B.E.C comprised of bacon, scrambled eggs, cheddar & monterey jack and a maple aioli, served on a charcoal bagel.

The Classic B.E.C was a standout with its sharp flavours coming from the bacon, cheese and maple aioli. I was glad that the flavours did not overpower one another and together with the eggs, the bagel was satisfying.
