What seemed to be a common dessert turned out to be a treat for the day. The Power Chendol with Ice Cream (S$2.50) comes with such a generous serving of non-diluted coconut cream, I thought the stall owner was putting icing on the shaved ice! Then with a large scoop of gula melaka (mmmm!). Aunty then flattened the top of the ice mountain for the red bean and chendol to sit nicely before placing that scoop of vanilla ice cream. That combination and proportion: power la!
I've not imagined squid done teppanyaki style can be sooooo good. It smells pan fried nice, easy to bite and tasted yummy. It was cooked just right with the right pinch of salt and spice. Definitely a must to eat this when you're dining here. ๐๐๐
Those who grew up in Subang Jaya pledge allegiance to this all-star hawker centre for its foolproof comfort food, from honest-to-goodness economy rice to soothing pan mee. Seats are set beneath the residential flat Tien Tien Fatt is housed in, so expect old-school, neighbourly vibes. Your parents will love this for lunch. If your preference for curry mee is the Penang variant, you've come to the right place. The Indonesian helper at this curry mee stall makes a mean bowl (RM5.50), chock-full of fu chuk, tau fu pok, cockles and pig's skin. Joltingly spicy, the curry broth is paired well with meehoon-mee. Meanwhile, another stall serves a delicious Pork Noodles (RM5.50). Boiled for long hours, the pork-based soup is a cloudy bowl of comfort along with its meat and offal trimmings. Drinks are also done well here, with a strong yet subtly sweet cup of Kopi O (RM1.80) leading the line.
Avg price per person: RM10

Major #throwback to my solo JB trip half a year ago. Finally, I was "diligent" enough to explore out of my comfort zone and took a cab to this old school family-owned zi char coffeeshop. Love the steamed kampung chicken, wild caught sea prawns and red grouper fish head! All the dishes are cooked fresh everyday and seasoned adequately. #HighlyRecommended
Wanted to order the "ๅฟไธไบ"(a.k.a Empurau Fish), but it was hard for me to finish the whole fish on my own. Looking forward to be back with more friends! #EileenOngInJB #EileenWantsToCampHereForever #Seafood #Chinese #MalaysiaBoleh #Fish #Delicious #MalaysiaTrulyAsia #Burpple #Johor #JBCityGuide

This is some LEGIT coconut soft serve ($3.80 for a small cup) and not your run-of-the-mill ice cream that tastes of 90% milk with barely any hint of coconut. It's refreshing (like coconut water in soft serve form), healthy, and manages to satisfy sweet tooth cravings at the same time - I highly recommend it!!!
Returned with mum since we were around Hillion Mall wondering what to have. Decided to order these two meats and paired it with their Sesame Rice (which was pretty similar to the rice we get with Chicken Rice).
Sure; they could probably do better in terms of presentation but the Char Siew was still pretty much as tender and sweet as it used to be; it is also noted that the Char Siew was also sliced thicker than the ones served with the noodles that I previously had. The Crispy Pork Belly was also pretty impressive; despite the slightly coarser meat that we had, the skin was biscuity crisp and the meat was pretty flavourful from the spices rubbed into it โ could have been better if it was slightly more fatty but still pretty good looking past the texture of the meat!
Essentially tantalisingly bitter espresso ice slabs with surprising sharply salted cores having a bit of a lie down on a cream-topped, crumble-crusted wet coffee sponge bed. 3.9/5
Wouldn't have known if not for a friend's tipoff after having seen it at another outlet. Searched for it in the outlets around town but to no avail, only to find the last one remaining at the outlet closest to home.
Sure, it may not be a Choux pastry and it isn't quite as oozesome as the ones by Shuu at Koki Tamagoyaki (I doubt anyone could beat them in that aspect), but you get a pretty light, airy and spongey Puff that's all pretty satisfying filled with a good amount of smooth, luscious cream โ an amount that I wouldn't find little (it fills up the puff reasonably well without being a mess to eat). A Cream Puff that is reasonably good for $1.80 that I wouldn't mind having especially if I were to crave for one, but can't get my hands on a Shuu puff.

The soon kuehs (็ฌ็ฒ) were plump and filled to its brim with ingredients. Instead of just a mouthful of bang kuang (turnip), the fillings here are generously mixed in with mushrooms, black fungus, hae bi, etc., giving the bite you take a greater variety of textures compared to others out there. The best part of it all was the skin made with yam, don't know how it's done but it's so chewy!
Go early to catch them as they usually sell out by 1pm. Thank you for sharing this gem with us Ni Zhen! ๐๐ป Can't wait to go back to try the Hakka YTF! #BurppleJalanBesar

The "Yuan Yang" is the "pau" that tends to sell out quickest at this well-known stall in a corner coffeeshop. It's filled with lotus paste, red bean paste and a piece of salted egg yolk to give a sweet and savoury combination.
Personally, I feel the "pau" tastes best eaten right then and there with a cup of "kopi-o siu dai".
