A non-descript place where you're unlikely to find unless guided by familiar folks to a basement dungeon, which is cheerily lit up with Christmas lights - the signature dishes here are their local fares, and I enjoyed the sirloin beef horfun ordered. Well charred. They're know for their signature beehoon and hokkien meet too, but definitely on the pricier side ($20+)
Love this gem of a dish, the beef rib soup is so rich tasting and filled with lots of vermicelli and beef ribs! (Many places usually miss on the taste of this, so I'm glad to find Yun Ga which has nailed it). Plus, it comes with all the banchan and ice barley tea, which is amazing. Highly recommend the lunch deals here (~$18)
Horfun is imported from ipoh and it's slurp worthy and coated generously with the char and sauce. Plus that flowy egg just mixes well to make the already rich taste, abit richer. (~$6)
The spice tinge marries well with the sweet coconut broth to deliver this classic laksa, comes with cockles and prawns and ultimately a feast of flavours ($6.50)
A classic teahouse with a true diverse spread of dimsum, each of them packed generously with flavours. Highlights are the jumbo spring roll that comes with chunky prawns and crab bits, as well as the crispy cheecheongfun with youtiao. Everything hit a sweet spot. (~$35 per pax)
This place near the river/longkang is a pretty nice alfresco place and I especially like coming here for their chuanchuan, where there is no minimum order. Faves are the crispy mushrooms and broccoli. Their bacon enoki is smaller than other places. Good place to unwind.
It's on the 2nd floor of the shophoise and offers a good lunch set - the ribeye done medium rare and with an assortment of comfy sofas that makes it a pretty chill place for Friday lunch 🥂
We love this place. Hearty teochew dishes that were delicious and tastes so sincere, especially the snapper and tofu in superior soy, their yam ring goes extra large and crisp, my all time favourite kung ba Pao (the meat is jelly soft), and even their beancurd with crab wowed with the homely beancurd taste.
Some of the best heartland food,
This dish is well executed with the hardy grains immersed in a rich seafood broth and with chunky grilled prawns. Not featured here but the other dishes, incl their grilled octopus and pork is amazing as well. Large servings for sharings, felt like an authentic experience in Spain
Fancy dinner at Praelum, with the best parts being the passion filled sharings on the wines of Spain (Rioja, Tempranillo) and a good charcuterie board with some unique meats.
The thickness of the salmon belly, the plating on ice and the carving the skin comes together to make it even more like an art. Preferred the salmon belly over the maguro personally :-)
Decadent brownies? Yesss. Caved in to this speculoos brownie served warm with a molten speculoos and brownie center. This is absolutely rich in chocolate, with just the right size to not feel too sinful. ($4.50)
