Found another Chinese gem, apart from my usual dongbeirenjia. This place offers chuanchuan and all the classic Chinese fares like tomato egg! And their super crispy laziji. For $48, we were super filled. Plus points that it hits the palate just right and is not greasy
We came here for this gem. Only available from 5pm and we literally counted down. This was Soo good and rich in garlicky taste and you can taste the yam too. Lots of meats and mushroom added in. For $18, it's a tad pricey, but abacus seed is notoriously hard to cook and the Victorian themed ambience here is perfect too.
Grilled seabass with rich taste of pepper and in a mushroom broth (glad I tried a new flavour), with our add on of Chinese cabbage and daikon, was a great dinner. Plus they have live bands too! ($50 for 2)
Sooo delicious. This is so rich in every ingredient you'll wish for in a maocai, we chose beef - tender slices and pairs well with the generous amount of veggie. Definitely get their homemade tea to match with the spicy maocai. (Good for 2-3 pax, ~$40)
Family and I love this place. Unique dishes all well executed.
Vermicilli with prawns (M serving is huge, it's fragrantly stir fried with a bit of char taste, and kept warm in claypot)
Duck with strawberry marmalade made us think back to the Peking ducks we had in Beijing. Such crisp skin and tender meat throughout. Lovely.
Sichuan fish and soup, soooo creamy. Reminiscent of bak ku teh and we couldn't have enough of this with the rice
Scallop and asparagus with black truffle is also an indulgent treat.
Lovely ($130+)
Horfun is imported from ipoh and it's slurp worthy and coated generously with the char and sauce. Plus that flowy egg just mixes well to make the already rich taste, abit richer. (~$6)
The spice tinge marries well with the sweet coconut broth to deliver this classic laksa, comes with cockles and prawns and ultimately a feast of flavours ($6.50)
A classic teahouse with a true diverse spread of dimsum, each of them packed generously with flavours. Highlights are the jumbo spring roll that comes with chunky prawns and crab bits, as well as the crispy cheecheongfun with youtiao. Everything hit a sweet spot. (~$35 per pax)
This place near the river/longkang is a pretty nice alfresco place and I especially like coming here for their chuanchuan, where there is no minimum order. Faves are the crispy mushrooms and broccoli. Their bacon enoki is smaller than other places. Good place to unwind.
We love this place. Hearty teochew dishes that were delicious and tastes so sincere, especially the snapper and tofu in superior soy, their yam ring goes extra large and crisp, my all time favourite kung ba Pao (the meat is jelly soft), and even their beancurd with crab wowed with the homely beancurd taste.
Some of the best heartland food,
Love how this place is called 800 bowls because the chef aspire to serve 800 bowls (and more) of handmade noodles daily. Highly recommend this place for a comforting bowl of noodles that suit our palate, savoury but not overwhelming, and the plump prawn dumplings are amazing. Pork ribs were abundant and juicy too. Will definitely be back to try their raved dumpling noodles in the chilli oil sauce!
Noodles are about (~$8-10), a steal in this area
串串! Juicy and grilled to perfection. My favourites go to the enoki chunks wrapped in pork belly, and the oyster mushrooms (go for the Asian spice flavouring). Going for the 20 sticks set is indeed an indulgent and absolutely delightful buffet ✨ - jap x Chinese fusion yakitoris
