Jyu Gae Bistro🍤 Went to Jyu Gae Bistro a few days ago and ordered Taiwanese Ham & Cheese Egg Crepe ($9.90), Taiwanese Salt and Pepper Popcorn Chicken ($9.90), Mentaiko Sweet Potato Fries ($10.90), Truffle Fried Shrimp Balls (~$15), Pan-Seared Teriyaki Unagi ($15.90), Signature Stir Fried Carrot Cake with Radish (~$12), Caramel Milk Tea ($6), Kazo 3 pcs Cream Puffs(Matcha, Chocolate, Original)!😇 Overall ratings 9.5/10! Food is affordable and good, live bands after 8pm, ambience was pretty good, and staff were nice😍 Highly recommend their Crepe, Popcorn Chicken, and Shrimp Balls😋 Only downside was the Carrot Cake😅 Would definitely head back again!

Braised Beef Noodle Generous bowl and looks a treat. I love that they used guan miao noodle, which is flat, wrinkly and has great texture. The broth was the lighter type, which exists in Taiwan too. Some chunks of meat were fine, but it's not consistent.

Hard To Beat Perfectly Aged Sashimi Went for the $168++ Omakase meal here (though it’s a dinner option, it’s also available during lunch). Decor is rather no-frills with a touch of Japanese; the highlight here are the dishes. The sashimi here are aged differently, it brings out the best of sashimi! You will know once you take a bite; the Otoro transported me back to Nara. The meal here is unforgettable. Recommended to pair it with a glass of homemade Umeshu 🥃

Amazing Omakase At Mizuya In Japanese, Omakase means to “leave it to the chef” and when done well, it is an enchanting experience. The Mizuya experience was a beautiful showcase of the freshest, most imaginative plates of sushi and sashimi, reflecting the grace and skill of Chef Kenny. We enjoyed lean and fatty tuna, flounder sashimi, truffle caviar, dried shark fin, sweet prawn and many other wonders. We bought our own wine with no corkage charge. Only wished the half roasted duck was under $28, so I can use the 1for1.

Chill tzechar place with the lingo This place has such a funky menu with unique names. We chomped down on the wokhei beehoon and we enjoyed the golden chicken as well (sweet, tangy sauce on very tender and crisp chicken bites). For $32 for two. We'll come back for crab and their fishhead. Seems very reasonably priced and good quality

Dog-friendly old skool zichar in geylang What a quirky find, jiving to old skool 80s Canto songs and reasonably priced zichar. Truly dog friendly with a small grass field for the doggos to run in, and very friendly service!

Black Tea Umeshu Brought the fiancee because she loves umeshu. She picked this on top of the tasting set as she likes tea too.

Crispy Chicken Fajitas Tacos Brought the fiancee because she loves umeshu. I love hard tacos, but the fatal flaw here was the mediocre chicken, which spoilt everything.

Gambas Al Ajillo Brought the fiancee because she loves umeshu. We added this because the prawns in the ramen were very good quality. The problem here was it's way too salty.

Chinese Tea in Pot Burpple Cafe has started serving Chinese tea in pot. Nice alternative to coffee especially when having long discussions with friends and partners. Burpple will gradually increase the choice of tea over the next few months.

good food and drinks we ordered prawn pasta, salmon and iced matcha, sadly didn’t take any photos but the restaurant was decked with halloween decor which was pretty impressive and the food was good, matcha was nice, really enjoyed the overall experience. water was refillable as well, will definitely go back with the wide variety of choices.

Saucey Order the fruitt di mare and risotto rice ball. Overall, it is very flavourful but i find the plate flooded with sauce. Would be good if they cut down on it

Seasalt Caramel Roast Chicken (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) Would usually avoid ordering Roast Chicken in cafes/restaurants because they can end up being overcooked and dry, but I enjoyed their Half Seasalt Caramel Roast Chicken! Felt that the basics were done right, with the meat tender and well-seasoned underneath the crispy skin. I know Seasalt Caramel sounded more like an ice cream flavour LOL but the sweet-savoury sticky glaze made the dish less one-dimensional! 🍗⁣

Chuncky Beef Bolognese (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) 🍝 Also enjoyed the Chuncky Beef Bolognese, which features thick chunks of stewed beef in a tangy tomato sauce. The chuck meat was slow-cooked until tender with no gamey taste, and the tomato base didn't taste like those factory-made ones. If you're craving beef but find minced beef in the usual bolognese pasta unsatisfying, this is the dish to get! ⁣

Old Habits Coconut Kueh (Pouffle) ($9.90++) Cross between coconut pudding and souffle, this was a really interesting one! Came piping hot, and paired well with the icecream! A nice hot and cold combination that kind of reminds of bread pudding.
