Had this at the Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar before it ended and omg I've gotta say that for a food sold at a festival, it totally exceeded my expectations! ๐ฏ .
Initially thought that this could be a gimmicky concept ร la some of the other food being sold at the bazaar but wow, this Cookie Monster ($5.50) cheesecake was really rich and creamy, and @themunchmunchco didn't scrimp at all on the dark chocolate drizzle ๐ซ and the crushed Oreos! Though you can't see it in this photo, the cheesecake also had a crumbly base which went so well with the soft, cheesy cake ๐ .
And having the cheesecake on a stick actually made it much easier for us to eat it - though we still needed to use a fork to scoop up all the crushed Oreo pieces (and there were many!) around the base of the cheesecake!
Definitely gonna be looking out for their stall at future food festivals and events! ๐ My next target - their Speculoos and Hazelnut Crunch flavours!!! โค
Literally translated as Happiness Hall, Xing Fu Tang (ๅนธ็ฆๅ ) has landed on our sunny island to bring you reachable happiness in the form of their slurpworthy drinks! ๐ .
Their signature drink - the Brown Sugar Boba Milk ($5.30) - has earned a reputation as Taiwan's No. 1 Brown Sugar Boba Milk ๐ and many people love it for its QQ brown sugar boba that is stir-fried!
Yes, you heard me right! The boba pearls which are freshly made on-site are stir-fried after being steeped in brown sugar and then scooped into the cup while still warm. And those beautiful markings aka 'lines of happiness' you see on the cup? They can be attested to the server's dexterity in scooping the boba into the cup; round and round the cup goes while the brown sugar boba languidly slides to the base of the cup. It's a fascinating process that you can capture on camera while waiting for your drink to be ready! ๐คฉ .
Once that is done, fresh milk ๐ฅ is poured in followed by a thick layer of cream at the top. It's then time for a double dose of brown sugar and with that, brown sugar is sprinkled atop the layer of cream and blowtorched to give a caramelised finish!
Sounds yum? Indeed it was! The Brown Sugar Boba Milk was rich & creamy, and went really well with the chewy pearls. Have it while the boba is still warm and savour the sweet, luscious taste of warm boba in your mouth. It's an aromatic cup of happiness that is sure to get you grinning widely! ๐ .
If you can't wait for the opening of their first Singapore outlet at @centurysquaresg on 28th June, you can check Xing Fu Tang out at their pop-up stall at Takashimaya B2 Atrium from now to 16th June where three of their offerings will be on sale - the Brown Sugar Boba Milk, Damascus Rose Tea with Lemons ๐น๐๐ต ($4.90) and Fresh Milk with Brown Sugar Boba softserve ๐ฆ ($4.50)
Happiness is just a sip away ๐ .

If you're familiar with Non Entrรฉe Desserts, you should know that they're popular for their desserts which resemble other desserts, snacks and even local food! Some of their past creations include a dessert which resembles kaya toast & eggs, a mega-sized Gem Biscuit inspired treat, and the Bak Chor Mee - which looks like a bowl of our beloved local noodles but which actually is a dessert! ๐ฑ .
This time round, the folks at @nonentreedesserts have taken their ingenuity to the next level with a series of cakes ($8.90 each) which resemble Koi fishes - hence I call them 'fishcakes' (geddit?!) ๐๐ฐ .
There are 5 desserts under their 'Zen' koi series and each koi possesses a unique look and its own distinctive flavour. We had the Taisho Koi which comprises roasted green tea mousse, azuki beans, green tea crunch and almond sponge. Silky smooth on the outside and spongy with hints of crunch from the green tea crunch on the inside, this koi was an enjoyable treat to eat though we were a little disappointed by the mild hojicha taste of the mousse ๐ .
I would still recommend trying this though as it's not everyday that you get to eat a real koi much less a dessert koi like this right? ๐

Featuring their Laksa Egg Benedict ($22) and Tom-Yum Pancake with Thai Basil Pork ($20) ๐ฝ .
The former puts a creative spin on the ubiquitous egg benedict dish with the standard toast being swapped out for their seasonal croissant ๐ฅ While poached eggs are still a mainstay, the dish is tszujed up with laksa hollandaise sauce and cheddar cheese ๐ง, and paired with a side of curried fried cauliflower that is wonderfully seasoned with spices and oh so addictive to munch on! Left a little confused by why the croissant is a seasonal crossiant but hey when the food is great, there's no need for that many questions is there? ๐ .
As for the latter, it's definitely something novel which I have not seen anywhere else before! Here, a tom yum scented soufflรฉ pancake ๐ถ๐ฅ lies concealed under a generous serving of Thai basil pork sauce replete with chunks of minced pork. The dish is then topped with a fried egg ๐ณ and a crispy papadum. Though not as Instagrammable as the Laksa Egg Benedict, this was my favourite out of the two brunch dishes as I felt that all the elements of the dish went cohesively well together! Although the soufflรฉ pancake wasn't as fluffy as we had hoped it would be, it was nonetheless infused with the distinctive tom yum flavour which was nicely complemented by the other Asian flavours in the dish. Delicious! ๐

Want a PEACH of this yummylicious softserve from Aqua S? Well, then you've gotta head on down to @aquas.sg stat because today - 31st May - is your LAST CHANCE to grab their Peach Softserve before they switch to their new biweekly flavour on 1st June (how is it even June already?!) ๐ฑ .
If you love ๐, you'll love this Peach Softserve with its well-rounded flavour! It is both sweet and tangy, and such to delight to indulge in when paired with Aqua S's signature Sea Salt flavour with its sweet and salty notes ๐๐ฆ .
Not sure why our toasted marshmallow was so chao ta but hey, life's a peach after all innit? ๐
Drop by Tie Fun Wan and you'll be bowled over by the taste of their ็ขderful rice/noodle bowls! ๐ .
Helmed by Chef Ken Chia ๐จโ๐ณ of the now-defunct Rice & Fries, Tie Fun Wan is a cosy eatery nestled along the Rangoon Road cafe stretch which serves up honest to goodness fare that has no MSG and no oil so we can have our ้ฃฏ (fun) and eat it too! ๐ .
With a tight menu consisting of just 6 Signature Fun Bowls ๐ , you can be assured that no matter what you pick, it'll be incredi-BOWL! ๐ฏ From the crowd favourite 72-hr Slow Cooked Beef ($14) to the tongue-numbingly good "Ma La" Pork Collar, I loved all the bowls which we tried! All their bowls come with your choice of either Japanese pearl rice or dry lamian, and you can also top up your bowl with a 63ยฐ Egg ($1.50) for some yolky goodness ๐ .
Oh, and if you really love any one of the proteins that come with their Fun Bowls, you can always have it as a side dish so you can enjoy more of the meat at the same price! Yay! These side dishes are great for sharing too if you're here with a group of friends and wanna try out more of their delicious offerings! ๐ค .
We got their Teriyaki Chicken ($8) as a side order and it came with a generous serving of tender chicken thigh doused in a homemade teriyaki sauce that wasn't overly sweet or salty like how some teriyaki sauces tend to be. Though the skin accompanying the juicy chicken strips were a little on the small side, I liked that it was very flavourful, having soaked up the sauce wonderfully ๐ .
Another side order you can get is their Chicken Wings ($8/5pcs) which is available in either Honey or Soya flavour. We had their Honey Chicken Wings ๐ฏ and you can probably tell from the sheen of the skin that the wings were very well-marinated! Indeed, every bite into the chook rewarded us with a juicy mouthful of chicken meat saturated with luscious honey. Oh honey, I'm in love! ๐ .
All in all, if you were to ask me to pick a favourite at Tie Fun Wan, I'll say "I ็ข them all!!!" .

Especially when it comes to the insanely beautiful cones from Emack & Bolio's! ๐ฆโค .
Emack & Bolio's - one of, if not the best ice cream parlour in America - has landed in Singapore and their arrival brings with them a whole variety of outrageous flavours (35 to be exact!) and crazy cones which will be sure to bring you loads of happiness! ๐ .
From flavours like their out-of-this-world Cosmic Crunch and Space Cake to wacky flavours like their Stoney's Dream and Gabba Gabba Gooba, you can go wild customising your cones/cups with whatever flavour combinations you can dream up. The only limit is your imagination! ๐ก. And the party doesn't just stop at the ice cream flavours! ๐ Emack & Bolio's also has a variety of cones - Sugar, Waffle, Chocolate and Marshmallow - which will complement their delicious scoops perfectly! Out of all these cones, I highly recommend getting their Marshmallows Cones ($3.50) - chewy marshmallow goodness studded with childhood cereal favourites like Fruity Pebbles, Coco Pops, Froot Loops and Rice Krispies ๐ .
Featured here is a Triple Scoop ($15) - "Deep Purple" Chip, Matcha and Chocolate Addiction (from top to bottom) - on a Froot Loops Marshmallow Cone! ๐ .
As a chocoholic, I really enjoyed their Serious Chocolate Addiction ๐ซ flavour which is essentially a chocolate moose ice cream with fudge chunks and chocolate flakes. The generous, and I mean REAL GENEROUS, serving of fudge chunks and chocolate flakes along with the rich chocolate taste have me completely hooked on this flavour!
Their "Deep Purple" Chip, black raspberry ice cream with white and dark chocolate chips, is another flavour which I like. Besides being sweet, it is also tangy and as such, will appeal to those who do not have much of a sweet tooth! ๐ .
The Matcha though? I would have preferred for it to be more bitter. As it was, it was a tad too sweet for my tastebuds ๐ .
All in all, Emack & Bolio's has an excellent variety of ice cream flavours for you to take your tastebuds on a sweet escape! ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ฐ . .

Why not eat this Wolf Fish? ๐บ๐ .
Nope I'm not ribbing you! There is really such a thing as wolf fish and according to Wikipedia, it's also known as Atlantic catfish or ocean catfish #nowyouknow ๐ค .
Anyway, when I saw that Fisherios was selling this Beer Battered Wolf Fish ($15), I couldn't resist trying it since I was so intrigued by its name ๐คฉ As it turns out, the wolf fish tasted pretty much like how any other fish used in a fish & chips dish would taste though it's flesh was a tad firmer and doesn't flake off as easily as say dory fish would.
Overall, a decent plate of fish and chips though it didn't exactly have me howling with delight

Ended our meal at Shang Social with the Chilled Wolfberry Osmanthus Layer Jelly with Coconut ๆคฐๆฑๆก่ฑๅป็ณ ($6/3 pcs) Though Osmanthus jelly desserts at Chinese restaurants are usually exorbitantly priced, I just can't resist getting them cos they're always very refreshing to end the meal with!
And indeed this one was! The osmanthus jelly was pleasantly sweet and had the most lovely floral aroma. While it could probably stand alone as a dessert, I loved that Shang Social paired it with a layer of creamy coconut jelly which went really well with the fragrant osmanthus jelly.
Wouldn't hesitate to get this again the next time I'm at Shang Social! And I'll definitely be back! ๐งก
Always love visiting JB as I can indulge in beautiful spreads like this one from People & Places Cafe without worrying about the damage to my wallet ๐ซ๐ธ .
Kicked off our day trip by getting my favourite banana cake ๐ from Hiap Joo Bakery. We then headed to the Mount Austin district where we spent the arvo checking out 3 places. Last stop of the day saw us going for a hearty shabu shabu meal and fulfilling @traditionalfoodhero's craving for hot pot! ๐ฅ .
Also managed to pop by the new R&F Mall where I got my brown sugar boba fix from The Alley (no queue ftw!! โ) Speaking of that, I drank 3 milk teas - including a boba tea with Pokemon-inspired pearls! - and 2 matcha drinks today ๐ So ya, if you can't reach me, that's because I've OD-ed on bubble tea ๐๐๐ .
How are you spending your midweek? ๐
