We were anticipating the arrival of the sweet potato waffles, but unfortunately it didn’t deliver. Super dense and overly chewy, it gave our jaws a thorough workout. The ice creams here weren’t much to shout about as well — the Pistachio was flavourful but a little watered down, while the Black Hawaii (charcoal and coconut) tasted a little strange to me (could be my personal preference, since I don’t really respond well to coconuty flavours). Hopefully they’ll adjust the quality of their offerings, since they’re new.
Chanced upon this fried chicken concept while I was hunting for bagels at this newly opened mall. Impressed by this meal, as I wasn’t expecting much, given that they’re more known for their fried chicken.
Tender, moist and well-seasoned (the chilli in this dish is rly potent, so make sure you can take it) sous vide boneless chicken thigh which went well with the slightly tangy cilantro lime rice and runny onsen egg.
Yum! Only gripe was that portions were a little small, but that’s not gonna stop me from going back.
Finally got my hands on the bagels (got myself the cheese, blueberry, and two plains) here after two prior futile efforts. Worth the trip down! Got my hands on this baby, which was still hot from the oven. Chewy, slightly sweet, and a little dense, these doughy delights tick the boxes of what a bagel promises to be. There is a wide variety of flavours here, and they all go at $2.50, which is quite a decent price point imo.
Always glad to discover bagel joints in sg (which is very underrated here). Remember to heat them up for max enjoyment.
Newly opened, this mala snack joint is located amongst the cluster of street food pop-up booths next to people’s park complex (where the various stalls selling gigantic mantou’s are at, you’ll know what I mean).
It was surprisingly good! Pick and choose from a decent selection of fresh ingredients ($1.50 per two sticks of vege, $1 per stick of meat) and the stall owner will dip it in this cold mala sauce, which is super mouth-numbing, full of sesame seeds for that extra nutty flavour, not too spicy and flavourful. Very shiok for a snack, especially when you’re craving mala on a hot day.
Only qualm is that the portion was quite measly for the amount we paid, and also no carbs here so probably not feasible as a meal on its own.
Creamy, smooth with strong tea notes. Just the kind of dessert you’d want after a satisfying meal (at Maru, no less) to end the afternoon on a high. Owner Kevin was at the storefront, and was very helpful in recommending what to get as well!
Thanks to Burpple Beyond, we got two meat platters for the price of one! Succulent, smoky and tender, we couldn’t stop raving about this while eating. My favourite was the brisket, which was fall-off-the-bone and not too fatty.
My dining partner and I couldn’t believe how value for money this was! For $42 for two, you get a generous amount of seafood including large prawns, fish slices, mussels, an assortment of mushrooms (eg. shiitake, enoki) AND two meat platters of your choice per person! CRAZY. I wouldn’t claim this to be the best and freshest quality of ingredients for hot pot I’ve ever had, but for the money put down, I really can’t complain.
🙌🏻 THANK YOU Burpple Beyond for the 1-for-1 seafood/meat hot pot set deals!
Pasta was al dente, and generous amount of shredded crab meat. Nothing to shout about though, wish that the sauce could be less watered down. Nevertheless, still a good deal with Burpple Beyond’s 1-for-1 mains here!
Better than the McDonald’s version. Sweet sambal chilli sauce that complemented the thick and juicy chicken patty, which was seasoned with turmeric. Rice could be more fragrant as I felt that the lemak coconut flavour was lacking. Good option if you need to catch a quick bite but still want something filling.
Essentially reconstructed chicken rice in the form of a burger. Fragrant rice and tender chicken.
Newly opened in Icon Village, this hole-in-a-wall joint serves up an assortment of scrambled egg burgers. Every component of this burger was solid — eggs were creamy and done just right, brioche buns were toasted to golden brown perfection, avocado was ripe, cheese was grilled to a distinct smokiness, and it also helped that there was that tangy lemon sauce to cut through all that creaminess. Delish.
Fresh beef, strong black pepper taste. Buns were nicely toasted as well.
