While I'd give full marks for the fried chicken here, their noodles unfortunately fell short of expectations, which is a shame since the restaurant name Guksu means 'noodles' in Korean. The noodles were quite difficult to bite through, and the beef broth tasted way too bland. We managed to make this taste better only after mixing in loads of kimchi, which was free-flow and notably delicious.
Really impressed with how Guksu's signature drumsticks are so crispy on the outside, yet so juicy, tender, and flavorful inside, which is definitely no mean feat considering how most other KFC are only tasty on the outside, but dry and bland within. It's also great that there's no minimum order, so we got to order all 3 flavors (original, spicy, and soy sauce) to try. My fave? The soy sauce flavored one!
Look at its intricate interior, which speaks of the effort and dedication that goes into the making of each tart. Taste wise, this is also easily one of the best tarts I've had.
This place has been on my bucket list for the longest time but slowly forgotten until I saw danielfooddiary's post recently. And I have to agree that this is surely one of the best tiramisu around! U can tell from the photo how moist it is, with just the right ratio of ladyfingers to mascarpone. The bittersweet taste of kahlua is also clearly evident, which I find usually less prominent in other tiramisu cakes I've had. Overall this didn't feel too heavy on the palate, and I can easily finish 2 slices on my own!
Apart from the beef that was too tough, everything else about this dish is wonderful! Especially loved the potato rosti, soft egg, and the wilted spinach hidden beneath the yolk!
My friend liked this so much, we ordered a second one right after. Try requesting for this to be served chilled like we did, which I feel beats the original room temp version with its cool, firmer ganache that later melts away in the mouth.
The filling may be a little bland, but all is well when u eat them together with the savoury shaved ham and perfectly sauteed mushrooms. The earthy mushrooms are SO tasty I wish I could order an extra side of it!
Love the fact that most, if not all, of the pasta served at Bottura are made fresh in house. Never mind that my tastebuds couldn't really differentiate between the egg n squid ink flavors (the cream sauce masked them too much), these flat, thin, meepok-resembling ribbons of pasta were slippery-smooth and surprisingly quite springy to bite, in a good way.
Ok but nothing much to shout about. Would be so much better if there's more oozy cheese and minced beef mixed into them!
Risotto seems to be the trending food these days and I'm seeing it everywhere on menus! Anyway, I'm loving the smokey-sweet butternut pumpkin cubes here that helps cut through the heaviness of the cream sauce. The toasted baguette slices also deserves mention for lending a crisp contrast to the otherwise mushy texture of this dish. Great comfort food as the menu says!
Taste was pretty good but a pity the crab meat was abit too rubbery. Guess they use the frozen kind instead of freshly cooked ones.
Seabass was fresh but the risotto was just mediocre. And this was originally supposed to be served with asparagus, but they must have ran out of it and happily replaced it with cauliflower without having the courtesy to inform us about it. 😒
