Ah Bear Mookata boasts an impressive 4.8-star Google rating with nearly 700 reviews, setting high expectations for my visit.
The Highlights:
- Marinated Chicken: The star of the meal! Perfectly marinated, the marinade delivered bold, savory flavors that stood out.
- Squid Paste: Another winnerâ like sotong ball, but taste do much nicer
- Homemade Chili Dip: Beware, spice lovers! This fiery condiment packed a serious kick but balanced heat with tangy, savory depth, elevating every bite.
A small note: Opting for the Tom Yam soup base requires an additional $3 charge, but the fragrant, tangy broth is worth the upgrade for fans of Thai-inspired flavors.
So Lemakâs prawn paste chicken(Har Cheong Gai) is exceptional. It was crispy, fragrant & juicy.
The sambal is equally impressive: a well-crafted balance of subtly spicy, fragrant chili that avoids excessive oiliness.
Also liked how they seperate the ikan bilis & peanuts, so u have an almost equivalent amount of each. unlike some other nasi lemak stores where I find myself eating peanuts with a few strands of ikan bilis.

A solid spot for wanton noodles.
The star here is the dish itself: springy noodles coated in a rich, savory sauce elevated by a subtly spicy chili that adds depth without overpowering.
The wantons are tender and well-executed, avoiding any rubbery texture.
While the char siew is nothing really special.
Every visit to Elijah Pies feels like a feast for the eyesâtheir creations are nothing short of artistry on a plate, and the Wild Berry Lavender Pie is no exception. With its vibrant swirls of jewel-toned berries and delicate lavender-specked cream, this pie is as visually stunning as it is delicious.
Our group of nine shared a whole pie for a celebration, which proved perfectly generous in portion.
The flavor? Each bite felt refreshingly light(Not too sweet), yet deeply satisfying.
And letâs talk texture: the crisp, buttery tart base held its own against the lush cream topping, avoiding any hint of sogginess. Itâs that ideal contrastâcrunch meets cloud-like smoothness.
Lai Hengâs take on char kway teow stands out for its notably moist.
Available in affordable $4 and $5 portions, this dish packs a punch of smoky wok hei
Be prepared for lunchtime queues, but the wait is worth it. Orders are conveyed through a microphone by the efficient counter lady, ensuring seamless coordination with the chef.
Balanced portions of fresh cockles lend a subtle flavour without overwhelming the ckt.
The chicken cutlet at "No. 1 Western" is served with their signature sauceâa sweet and thick concoction that truly sets it apart. The cutlet itself was perfectly crispy on the outside, while the meat inside remained juicy and tender, making every bite a delight.
What really stood out, though, was the special sauce. It reminded me of the sauce from a Western food stall at Clementi Hawker Centre that has shuttered about a decade agoâa nostalgic flavor that brought back fond memories. This unique sauce is exceptional, and I havenât come across anything quite like it at any other place. Itâs truly one-of-a-kind and worth trying
Creamier Gelato has always been a standout for me. They offer a wide array of unique flavors that you wonât typically find at most gelato shops. Every time I visit Creamier, I feel like a kid in a candy store, overwhelmed by the incredible variety and unsure which amazing flavor to choose.
My go-to favorites are usually:
- Almond Butterscotch
- Pulut Hitam
- Roasted Pistachio
- Blue Pea Vanilla
Each flavor is a delightful experience, making Creamier a must-visit for any gelato lover!
I recently visited SL II for the first time and was excited to try their baked goods. I opted for the Walnut and Chocolate Chip Muffins and their Coconut Tarts.
The Coconut Tart was an absolute standout for me. The filling was incredibly fluffy, soft, and had a delightful fragrant flavor that really impressed me. Itâs rare to find a coconut tart that balances texture and taste so well, and this one definitely hit the mark.
As for the Walnut and Chocolate Chip Muffins, they were equally enjoyableâsoft, moist, and aromatic. Itâs clear that SL II knows how to bake muffins right.
Star Kitchen delivers an impressive array of zhi char dishes that are sure to satisfy.
The standout dish during our dinner visit was undoubtedly the fried garlic pork. It was perfectly crispy, aromatic, and packed with a rich, garlicky flavor that left us craving more.
The sambal kangkong was also a hitâfresh, vibrant, and bursting with a flavorful, slightly spicy sauce that complemented the vegetables beautifully.
As for the grilled squid, it was cooked to absolute perfection. The meat was tender, succulent, and had that ideal balanceâneither undercooked nor overdone.
Char.B Charcoal BBQ offers a delightful dining experience with their well-grilled dishes at affordable prices.
The grilled chicken was a standoutâtender, juicy, and perfectly charred, served with a side of crispy fries.
Another highlight was the sambal stingray, which was packed with spicy, flavorful goodness. However, the portion of sambal sauce felt a bit too limited, leaving me wishing for just a bit more to complement the dish.
Overall, itâs a great spot for satisfying and wallet-friendly grilled meals.
