Xing Hua Lou also serves a really delicious lychee pork. We love this sweet tangy dish of juicy tender pork.

To create this dish, crisscut incisions are first made to each piece of lean pork meat. The meat is the deep fried, resulting in the signature curled "lychee" shape. It is then seasoned with tomato sauce, vinegar, sugar and soy sauce, and served with lychee. It is great on its own or over rice!

Xing Hua Lou is a chain of casual Chinese restaurants, specialising in Heng Hwa Cuisine (a la Putien).

They serve a hot hearty bowl of Heng Hwa lor mee. Handmade noodles with various ingredients such as meat (sliced pork belly), seafood (prawns and clams), mushrooms and vegetables are braised in a pork bone broth. It is hard not to enjoy their distinctive thick broth which is both sweet and creamy.

I do wish though that they top it with more of the deep fried peanuts and seaweed which Heng Hwa Cuisine is known for!

If you are tired of queuing up for putien, do give this restaurant a try. Seems like their food is rather similar to putien and makes me wonder if the chef used to work there. Nevertheless, it is worth a try

Tried this new Heng Hwa eatery at Heartland Mall that serves up mostly communal dishes that’s good to share. Really liked how this one was; the springy bee hoon having absorbed the flavours of the broth that it was reduced with, whilst coming with other goodies such as mini scallop, clams, prawn and pork that gives it so much flavour. Very simple and hearty; comfortable food for soul.
