Xiang Mei Roasted Meat is a gem of a stall at the back of Bukit Batok Bus Interchange. I personally feel that its roasted duck, soy chicken, char siew and roasted pork is every bit as good as those served in restaurants, for a fraction of the price.

Favourite place for 油鸡烧肉饭! $4 or $4.50 (not too sure; usually Dad's the one ordering 😄) for a plate of soy sauce chicken plus roasted meat rice. The sound of the crispy roasted pork skin crackling in my mouth is a absolute delight😍. Each plate of rice comes with a generous bowl of complimentary soup of the day. Not the small bowl of colourless soup with a few measly spring onions floating around. But a solid big bowl of soup with ingredients in it. So far I've had lotus root with peanuts soup, szechuan vegetable soup and corn with carrot soup(as pictured). There's even chicken feet or chunks of pork bones in the soup. Yay to good food at good value 👍🏻😋

Two minutes away from Bukit batok MRT is Xiang Mei Roasted Meat with a persistent queue that grows especially long during lunch. My favourite is their roasted pork rice ($3) with its crackling skin. The lean char siew (char siew rice $4) is barbecued till slightly caramelised and the duck meat (roast duck rice $4) is juicy with slight mild herbal flavour. The meal is good without gravy but not without their chilli sauce which is tinged with sweetness. An absolute draw though is their delish soup with copious amounts of peanuts swimming with chunks of pork ribs that are boiled down till the bones are soft enough to eat.
