We travelled so far for this crap zzz. The noodles were alkaline and clumpy. The fishballs were better than other components but no better than common fishballs. How come this stall is popular?
Seriously, the portion is good enough for two to share.
The fish balls were served in a big bowl of soup. I counted five fish balls, two meat balls with mixed veg and some slices of fish cake.
As for the mee pok, it is a tad over done but I am impressed with the robust chili sauce, vinegar, and lard concoction.
I feel that there is not enough sauce to go around for the amount of mee pok given. By the time I am half way through with the noodle, the sauce have already dried up. The latter portion of the mee pok became so dry I have to keep adding soup for moisture but that actually diluted the flavors.
Despite the mee pok being too dry and the fish balls not very memorable so to speak, it is still value for money because it can keep you really full.
A bowl of Handmade fishball noodle, consists of five fishballs and fishball, was given generous and the meepok the way they cook are given me springy kind.
I am not a fan of fishballs-- I will pick & choose my balls carefully. Everything at 文光 (#01-25) is hand-made; I particularly enjoyed the meatballs, which have a firm yet chewy bite to it. Mee Pok 面薄 is my favourite type of noodles, & the chilli in the sauce had a good amount of heat in it (doesn't numb my tongue - yes I am a wimp). I would happily order this bowl of Mee Pok Dry ($3) again.
Take note: This stall is #01-25, not #01-185 like it says on other websites/sources. DON'T QUEUE AT THE WRONG STALL LIKE I DID 😧 Not pointing fingers, but I just wanted to provide an update; I think post-renovation, the stalls may have reshuffled? (I dunno)

carbs to live by and only at unit #01-185, 文光 - very consistent balanced sauce, laden with good quality fried pork lard and super generous portion for $4. just check out that bowl of soup teeming with fishballs! btw, only two kinds of people in the world: camp fishball or camp bak chor. i (will) have balls.
p.s: cant remember but i might have influenced my entire office to drink coffee strictly ONLY from Pearl stall. that auntie makes quite a mean cup.
