I’m not the biggest fan of char siew (caramelised pork belly) and siu yok (roasted pork) but I would gladly it them here at Toast and Roast. Not cheap though!
Super sweet and crispy on the exterior and melt in your mouth fatty and meaty goodness. The roasted pork was lean and flavorful but the skin wasn’t that crispy. The hakka noodles with generous servings of lard is so springy and a tad oily! Loved it so much, paired with the warm bowl of soup and roasted chicken that was so tender and succulent!
Walking distance to good food, and of course good partner for food is all matter <3 ordered drumstick to share, and get fat together 👭 #followjiongtoeat
Head to this shop on days when you're craving some meaty comfort. The char siew is sweet, chunky and a bit on the oily side but it melts in the mouth so well. I'm usually not a fan of fatty meat but this was an exception.
Hakka Mee Char Siew | RM7.40
Hakka noddle with minced meat rm7, add on a small portion of char siu rm11. The service is slow and take forever to look for someone to take your order, parking issue is another problem. Crowded during lunch hour, but never stop you to pay a visit when you are craving for yummy char siu in ss2!
Came here to try their well-known char siew, and while I loved the glistening caramelised shell encasing the slab of meat, I found some parts of the meat underneath overtenderised — some may say melt in the mouth, but I found it somewhat mushy.
The siew yoke's better than average and didn't disappoint with its crispy layer of skin, while the smoked chicken leg was better than expected. I love all things smoked, so I might be a bit biased, but the chicken was really tender and flavour-packed. 👅💦
Do note that their serving portion of the Hakka noodles is rather generous so you might want to share a bowl so you whack more meat! 😆
