The portion and size of the Ngor Hiang were quite small for the price, but it was really tasty. Add the sweet black sauce and spicy chili sauce for added oomph. If it were more value for money, I would order it every single time.
Loved the salty bean flavor of the Babi Pongteh, but today the meat was fattier than usual. Chap Chye was ok. Tried Nonya tauhu for the first time. It was not as spicy as the Sayur Masak Lemak, and went quite well with rice. Today’s dessert was changed to green bean soup. I liked it. Not sweet and had a homemade taste, quite similar to my mom’s.
The set lunches ranges from $10++ to $15++. It consists of a main, 2 sides, 1 dessert and a drink.
I tried both the Babi Pontay and Ayam Buah Keluak Sets, accompanied with side dishes of Nyonya Chap Chye and Chinchalok Omelette and the desserts and drinks.
The Babi Pongtay was not as flavourful as how the usual ones are. The vegetables were alright while the dessert, Bobo Chacha was also underwhelming, with the toppings that seem to be made without much thought.
The food is generally alright but if you are expecting authentic Peranakan food, then this is definitely not the place for it. I will turn to other alternatives if I’m looking at eating Peranakan food.

Nyonya style bibimbap hahaha. Cos there’s omelette, sliced mango, rectangular tauhu, prawns and garnish. Just about enough nutrition and carbs.
The nonya chap chye here is one of the better ones I have eaten save for the rather stiff vermicelli used here ( they could use a better quality one ).
Other than that , this really tastes like something out from my mum’s kitchen. So soulful - so good .
Well stewed vegetables with generous black fungus and mushrooms in a soy bean sauce with a umami from the dried shrimps.
I like that dried bean puffs and Tau kee is used - which most places so readily omit for convenience sake.
Drench that addictive and savoury broth over rice for a simple hearty meal .
Authentic Peranakan
This is really value for money authentic Peranakan food .
Served in a set , you get to choose 2 sides with every chicken / beef Rendang order.
The sides are all good - ranging from chinchialok egg , curry toufu , nonya chap chye .
You also get a dessert ( ie bo bo cha cha , gula Melaka ) and a homemade drink of your choice .
Best for meals when you are eating alone because you can taste a variety of food with just one order .
I must say that the standard of food here wins Ivins ivins ( which is rather inconsistent these days with very watered down rempah ) so this could me my new place to come for a casual / fuss free Peranakan food .
At 12 dollars , this doesn’t break the bank too .
