We had some awesome satay at Whampoa Drive from a stall called Satay Guan.

We had pork and chicken satay ($0.60 per stick, min. order 10 sticks) and they were wonderful. Satay must be juicy and tender while served piping hot so that it can absorb all that flavour from the pineapple infused peanut sauce. However, we appreciate satay with a bit more fat for that extra taste. But shiok overall!

Finding this gem is like finding your first love... you've been looking so hard, can't believe it's there all along but you just didn't see it. Guan's (源) Satay is just around the corner of the famous Hokkien Mee, countless times I've been there but never tried their satay. Totally loving it as it checked the box of all the favorite elements of a good satay: (1) satay only - hawkers who are good only need to sell what they are best at. That's what I believe. (2) pineapple purée in peanut satay sauce; (3) well marinated, well charred meat skewer. Prefer the sweeter honey glazed type.
