This is a review of the new Marutama outlet at ION Orchard. I had the Stone Bowl Dandan Tsukemen unique to this branch, and the side chicken balls. The latter were yummy, but the Tsukemen is one of the worst I have had. The broth is too thick and much less flavourful or fragrant than other versions. Service is friendly and efficient. Although there’s a line at meal times, for me it’s less good than the ramen place that stood at the same location before.

From Marutama Ramen
Tried the Teriyaki Hamburger Bento from this adorable Japanese restaurant and it exceeded expectations!
The homemade beef patty was juicy and flavourful, smothered in a sweet and savoury teriyaki sauce.
Paired with three tasty side dishes.
The portion was generous and the presentation was lovely.
This was indeed different from the taste of other ramen stalls. The chicken stock was a rich orange and had a strong taste, quite clearly of tomatoes. Came with a small dish of groundnuts. Didn’t quite know what to do with the lemon. These were sea prawns and though were slightly overcooked, had great umami roe (yums)! There was relatively less broth than other ramens. Interesting try indeed! Wine costs the same as canned beer, Pity they don’t have draught.
@marutamaramen.sg's Aka Marutama Tanmen is slightly spicy and nutty with a mix of nuts and chilli in their chicken soup. This was not bad and tasted rather healthy too! 😋
Always nice to slurp up a warm bowl of pork based ramen from this place! I will usually go for the original version with tender chashu, egg and lots of chopped spring onion! Sprinkle in some grinned sesame for more fragrant taste!
