Stumbling into the cafe on a rainy afternoon, we were heartened to find a very cosy and comforting level 2 eating area, perfect to unwind on a weekend afternoon with good food and tea.

My personal favourite was the salmon ochazuke, perfectly pan fried salmon, served with slightly savoury anchovies, mixed with the warm soup - yum yum for my tum tum😋

The tamago sando was really good as well, toasted fluffy bread with a thick layer of tamago. Simple, classic and always enjoyable.

Already looking forward to returning again. Tis the stuff weekends are made of!

Maybe we're lucky, maybe the uncle is generous by nature. The bowl was full of meat, egg, and peanut. Porridge was surprisingly smooth, making a nice and savoury meal overall!

Night festival 2016 brought us into town on a fine Saturday evening, ready to experience a different Singapore from the one we grew up in. First stop, saveur.

Saveur was the restaurant that introduced me to Duck confit (and probably even French food) years ago. Because of this, I guess I will always expect something different from each dish served here.

Once again i was not disappointed - I was for sure pleasantly surprised with the seabass. Tender, with a crispy skin, matched with deliciously roasted potatoes/carrots, I throughly enjoyed the dish. A great start for our adventure that evening, but also a great place to hang out and enjoy any weekend.

It always begins in the office. Just after 11am, with a silent sideward nod, we quickly finish up what we're doing, log off and head towards the lift. That's all it takes for us to get the hint.

This fish soup is amazing. So what if it doesn't have a signboard, and the soup is a mess of fish and veg? The soup is so savoury, so thick, with chunks of fish and vegs. It goes exceptionally well with the e-mee (not in picture), but the yam rice is a popular choice too. The chilli (not in picture) is a must try; spicy, but shioks. Ah, this does bring joy even to the most mundane of office days.

Many thanks to my friends for indulging me as we tried out this fable of a healthy pancake. This was actually our second attempt - we arrived around 8pm on our first visit by which the shop was already closing.

No regrets at the end of day! The pancake pleasantly surprised us all - it tasted healthy (kudos to the 7 grains batter receipe), yet still fluffy, and not too sweet. The pancakes were served warm, and went really well with the cold ice cream and matcha cream. Sweet potatos were good too - crispy exterior, soft insides, warm. Nice ambience at the cafe for catchups and conversation, coupled with this tea time treat, I'll be hard pressed to come up with a better way to while away the weekend (and I doubt my friends will disagree too!)

As fruit salad is to rojak, sushi is to this bowl of Poke goodness.

Selected the spicy salmon and Shoyu salmon, with edamame beans, fish roe, seaweed, and avocado on a bed of mixed rice.

Delicious, satisfying, and dare I say, healthy.. (at least a bit 😋).

Joining in on the poke bowl craze - I love the idea of marinated salmon complemented with an assortment of sides atop a bowl of carbs (or lettuce for the healthier days). This place is about as good as it gets IMO.

Spicy garlic salmon (delivers a slight tingle!), lime avocado, crispy kale chips, seaweed and ikuras (both small and large ones) atop a bowl of quinoa, yums! If good food is not enough for you, it's right in the middle of town, serviced by both City Hall and Esplanade mrt. Plus, with good planning and some luck, you'll also get the beautiful view of the Singapore skyline.

[Pro-tip #1] You get an option of white sushi rice, quinoa, or lettuce as your base. Choose your fav!
[Pro-tip #2] The outdoor seating is quite good! You'll get fresh air, more spacious seatings, and don't worry about the lack of attention if you're out, there are a couple of servers stationed outside too.
[Pro-tip #3] Make a reservation, the evenings and weekends sure are busy!

A berry delicious cup of goodness

Filled with blueberries strawberries bananas, apple juice and honey pollen, the drink is jam packed with fruit favourites. The mix is sweet - though honestly I can't tell if it's from the fruits or the honey hahah.

We added Chia seeds as topping for this drink. It's a pretty worthwhile addition in my opinion!

Another escapade into Star Vista during lunch one fine day. There must be something about that open, bright, and sunny environment that keeps drawing us back - hard to say no to the wider variety of food in a nice ambience!

For lunch today, we chose this slightly hidden cafe serving sushi rolls and poke bowls. Beachcomber is a pretty good sushi roll, crispy soft shelled crab, topped off with sweet and tangy strawberries. Wild about Wasabi is their latest poke bowl, loved the generous amount of tuna and salmon with avocado and salmon roe. Great place to chill during lunch, enjoying conversations about anything under the sun.

"Do you speak Japanese?" "Yes!" "Wow, really" "Yes, so does everybody else here!", chatted the waitress excitedly - in japanese! She then went on to share that there's a salad buffet, ice kacang machine, candy floss machine that we can help ourselves to!

We were pleased with the food that we received for the price we paid. A small don bowl, but with the free flow salad buffet and dessert, it was still a satisfying meal in a comfy environment.
