Missing Vietnam? Get a taste of it at this casual kiosk in Jurong East with their tasty Banh Mi. Feast on their signature Special Great Banh Mi ($7.90) which sees the delightful combination of 4 types of Ham Pork, Char Siu, Pork Floss, Pâté, Butter and Vegetable! Other worthy contenders include their Egg Pate Banh Mi ($5), Grilled Fish Banh Mi ($5.50), and Grilled Meat Roll Banh Mi ($5.50). Burppler aggs & xi :D sang high praises for their BBQ pork, which was " nicely caramelised and sufficiently tender, the marinade reminded me of honey glazed chicken wings. The pickled veg was nice - it wasn’t raw but somewhat soft with a slight crunch, added a little bit of sourness to the banh mi."

I’ve tried this before once but toasted so I wanted to try it again it its original state so I got it again. Nothing much to say except that 1) the bread dough is super soft and springy & 2) the brown sugar is super fragrant. It’s such a simple yet delicious bread omg. Definitely one of my favourites at Gokoku

Among the fusion items, we decided to try the Har Cheong Gai Burger which came as a shock (in a good way). The towering burger had, not one, but two massive pieces of Har Cheong Gai that the toasted buns could hardly contain. We could only eat it layer by layer, but it was definitely a brilliant idea to sandwich some coleslaw in between for a tad of fresh crunchiness, while also to hide the raw taste of the coleslaw for people who don’t enjoy it on its own like me. Thought the taste of the prawn paste could have been more evident though. Not to the extent of an exciting dish, but definitely value for money. Served with shoestring fries.

Impromptu ice cream stop to the new Dimanche 49, a takeaway spot tucked along Suites at Bukit Timah! They have a fixed 5 flavours on the menu for now. Each scoop is paired with a unique set of toppings and an option to top up to swap from cups to their chai tea flavoured cones. There were only 2 flavours available when we popped by - Wild Strawberries and Black Forest. Other 3 are Tiramisu, Praline and Ispahan.

The Wild Strawberries had strawberry gelato, mascarpone, microsponge and crumble. This was a very pretty cup and we did appreciate the variety in textures. The strawberry gelato was a bit more on the milky end, while I would have liked a more distinct strawberry tangy-ness from. Quite a pricey cup, but was a pretty refreshing one.

Their Black Forest has 70% chocolate sorbet, cherry compote, mascarpone and crumble. Again, it’s pricey, but we also appreciated the variety in textures which made it fun to have. Liked the bittersweet chocolate, this was really similar to a Black Forest cake in ice cream form 😂

Understand from the owners that they are currently working on more flavours and items to introduce!

Newly open cafe inside Ulu Pandan CC. Service was good but staff is new and could use some training. They were not able to answer questions related to type of beans and how was the taste of the food was. They did come by after food was served to check. Interesting menu selection with options for sandwich, western or eastern main course. Ordered latte and gochujang chicken thigh with rice. Latte was well pulled. Food was slightly on the sweeter than expected but good.

This might be my favourite chocolate cake thus far! Moist but not oily, & also not too sweet.

When I ordered this, I wondered if this would taste more like a chocolate or cheese cake. But when I tasted it, I actually tasted both! Neither flavours were trying to outshine the other, both fused well and this really hits the spot when you are craving for both types of cakes but can only have one. Decadent but not overwhelming, I can't wait to be back to try more of their other cakes!

@oldworldbakuteh has opened their 4th outlet, finally to the west! First time trying? Highly recommended to go for their Fried Porridge. What I had is their mixed pig organs fried Porridge ($5.00) and they have options for Pork Slice Fried Porridge too. Smoky Wok-hei flavour, so shiok!

Recently, porridge became more and more popular. Fried porridge, Teochew Porridge, Pao Fan. So when Old World opened their latest outlet in West Coast, I just had to go join the queue.

Yes yes they have Bak Kut Teh but we are really only hankering after their wok hei infused fried porridge and their incredibly simple but super tasty dry mee suah. The Mixed Pork porridge did not disappoint. A bit salty but has wok hei. Lots of stomach, intestines, bits of fried bean curd and shallot oil drizzled on top.

But the one that stole the show is of course their mee suah. A simple bowl of dry fried mee suah, pre-cooked so it is served cool and not reheated, comes with only spring onion, fried shallots and a couple of croutons of lard, nonetheless the flavours that explode on your first bite....you wonder what hit you. And only $0.80 per bowl!

I’ll be back to try their other mee suah dishes but I suspect this will remain the favourite of most patrons.

Nestled within the residential estate of Fabre Heights, Faber Brunch Club shares the same space as Gelato Labo and Glass Roasters Coffee. Paid them a visit on a Sunday afternoon 2pm and there wasn’t any crowd - perfect for a quiet, cozy and chill Sunday brunch.

Pictured here are the Big Bass Chips ($22) and Seafood Mentaiko Linguine ($24). I’d say it is slightly above average prices for cafe food but I guess it’s still worth it for the quality. Prawns and Clams were really fresh and the bass was fried to perfection! We also had a cup of flat white latte and the coffee was really fragrant!

Overall, had a pleasant experience here and would come again.
