You might be tempted to gloss over the 𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐤𝐞 ($12+), with its simplistic name - but don't underestimate it. This was quite heavenly; so much that we all fell silent at the table for a while, slightly confused. The cake is a melt-in-your-mouth yet not oily kind of buttery.

As a fan of savoury-sweet pairings, I felt the soft creamyness of the cambembert in the ice cream was a harmonious match. & the fried shallots gave good crunch & fragrance to top this dessert off perfectly. 😍

🔹 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐭 ($12+); White Chocolate Ganache, Pineapple Curd & Bak Kwa Ice Cream

The 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐭, a CNY-esque special, was great! I liked how tart it was (pun not intended) (or is it?), a refreshing surprise deviating from the sweetness you expect from an actual pineapple tart.

I would've liked the Bak Kwa flavour to be brought out more prominently in the ice cream; but as it is, it's quite delightful, lingering at the back of your throat as you savour each bite.

Last but certainly not least, Pilot's desserts deserve a special mention as they impressed me the most. I love it when desserts surprise me (in a good way), as I don't have a sweet tooth!

Here's what we ate from their ᴅᴇssᴇʀᴛs (▫️), ᴛᴏᴅᴀʏ's sᴘᴇᴄɪᴀʟs (🔹) & ᴠᴀʟᴇɴᴛɪɴᴇ's sᴘᴇᴄɪᴀʟs (❤️) menu:

I'm actually quite impressed with Le Yi Bei's Taro Fresh Milk (M: $3.80 nett/ L: $4.80 nett, pictured). The taro taste is pretty robust. Pearls (+$0.50) are on the small side, but have a good chew & bounce to them.

Would buy this again! In fact, I'd like to try their actual teas - couldn't do so today as it's late in the evening & I do want to sleep tonight 😂

Thank you The Tiramisu Hero for acceding to my request of putting a candle into our tiramisu to surprise mum!

Ordering for dine-in is done through the app - which is a bit of a hassle cos you need to sign up/log-in/enter credit card details to pay (there is a cash payment option though).. But it made it easy to sneak in the candle request by typing it in swiftly 😛

They are a Burpple Beyond merchant too - however, the 1-for-1 deals are for main courses & not their tiramisus.. In this picture:

Foreground: Original Tiramisu ($7.50+)
Background: Brown Rice Tiramisu ($7.50+)

I was recently able to secure a slot to purchase some mochi muffins from Tiky Mochi Muffin, a hot home-based bakery which I’m sure needs no introduction. Snagged a CNY Bundle Box ($25.50 nett), which comprises of a mix of 3 CNY + 3 Original flavours of choice.

My selection -
🔸3 CNY Flavours: Honey Butter Cornflake, Red Velvet Cream Cheese, Ondeh Ondeh
🔹3 Original Flavours: Thai Milk Tea, Double Chocolate, Matcha Adzuki

After sinking my teeth into the first muffin, I regretted not buying more (limited to 3 boxes per order though 😂). The texture of the muffins is pleasantly chewy. For some reason, I expected the texture to be similar to the Pão de Queijo from Four Leaves. Using that as reference, it’s actually much denser, & makes for a solid, firmer (but still chewy) bite.

The good variety of flavours are appealing, too, with seasonal flavours rotating to keep things interesting. If I had to pick a favourite, it’d be the Red Velvet Cream Cheese (CNY flavour) & the Matcha Adzuki (original flavour). These can keep for a couple of days (details/instructions are provided), however I found that these were mfost satisfactory on the day I collected them.

Happy to support local businesses & even more so when it’s one run by a friend. Congratulations Tiky Mochi Muffin on your 1st anniversary! They’re running a crazy promotion for February where delivery is only $1, which is insane. I self-collected my stash, & while it was a fuss-free experience, I’d gladly opt for $1 delivery in a heartbeat.

Carrot cakes rank rather highly in my desserts list, & I enjoyed M's Carrot Cake ($11.00++) very much. I am living for this - a moist & perfectly spiced cake, with the classic cream cheese frosting & walnuts on top.

I take back what I said - mayyyybe I can finish this one on my own 😂

The Florida Key Lime Pie ($13.00++) is a good dessert to order if you can afford it. By that, I don't mean financially afford, I mean afford the appetite.

This is what you'd expect in a classic key lime pie. Sharp tartness, slight sweetness. However, IMHO the cracker crust, while buttery, was a little too thick. But that's really my only gripe about it.

I'm not exactly one to order a Sticky Date Pudding ($15.00++), but this came highly recommended. Upon first bite whoa JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL, this is pretty good. Served warm & moist, this was quite heavenly. & if you read other reviews, you'll notice they say the same thing - PS Café, your consistency is commendable.

The sticky toffee sauce is sweet, you can't deny or help it. What's nice about it is that you can mitigate how much of it you want in each bite. Do you dunk, or do you lightly dip? The choice is yours.

Also, you may or may not enjoy it with their ubiquitous truffle fries. Dun say you hear from me one ah.

Despite these shortcomings, I would still give Moocha's bubble tea a shot if I could get half off with Burpple Beyond's 1-for-1 again. They have a good variety of flavours too - the brown sugar ones which are so in right now, & even pi pa gao bubble tea 😂 So novel!

Interesting to note that if you're redeeming 1 Burpple Beyond deal here, only 1 person needs to be present (different from the 2 required for usual redemption of other deals). But if you redeem >1 deal, the usual rules apply.

I don't suppose Moocha gets much footfall traffic, being kind of in the middle of nowhere. Nonetheless, I happened to be in the area & decided to check it out.

Bought a Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea 铁观音奶茶 & Pu'er Milk Tea 普洱奶茶 ($3.00 nett each + $0.50 nett for pearls). These are very milky milk teas, & I do wish the tea flavours were stronger. I drink my bubble teas with 0% sugar, btw.

The pearls are also very, very firm. I would've liked them slightly softer, but I could live with this.

In all, this was a delicious experience though not what I expected it to be. Having had an extremely full dinner stuffed to the brim, I thought we could just have a 1-for-1 waffle set & call it good, but ended up having to order more than that.

Service was also a bit lukewarm though I get that the T&Cs have to be explained in some way to the customer - but it could be been done in a friendlier manner. & eventually said staff helped us take our group photo, which was thoughtful of him.

Would I return here? Mmmm... Maybe. If convenient.
