We felt the Dry Laksa was pretty yummy with a nice ‘lemak’ flavour, although, IMO, the portion size would probably not be filling enough for big eaters. You can choose your preferred choice of noodle: bee hoon, noodles or mee tai bak, which is served together with prawns, fish cakes, beancurd puffs, soft boiled egg, and bean sprouts. As for the Butterfly Pea Lemonade, it was a refreshing thirst quencher to beat the heat! We also got teacakes as part of the bundle set*, and we recommend the Raspberry Vanilla cake!

~Kurobuta Claypot Rice ($18): This is like a zhnged up version of the usual braised pork rice with but with Kurobuta pork belly used in their rendition. The meat itself is really tender and flavourful, and when you mix everything together (with the egg, rice & spring onion), it just tastes so good! Love the crispy thing that came on the side too!

~Pumpkin & Mushroom Risotto ($16): This is surprisingly very moreish! The dish may look simple but the flavours all came together harmoniously with each bite! From the sautéed mushrooms, to the garlic & pumpkin purée, everything was very savoury which left us wanting more.

~Singapore Laksa ($14): Really shiok! Gravy is so fragrant and lemak! Ingredients in the laksa include cherrystone clams, prawns & crispy tau pok. There’s a very pronounced seafood flavour in the broth thanks to the use of spicy dried shrimp!

The promotional mains are on weekly rotation, so customers will be able to enjoy different mains every week! Other promotional dishes (depending on which Tuesday you visit) include Crispy Pork Knuckle, Nasi Goreng, Claypot Hokkien Noodles, Croque Monsieur and more!

The crust had such a good bite to it! Bottom was crispy but dough was still chewy. Loved the combination of fresh arugula that cuts through the salty and fatty prosciutto. Very well balanced overall in terms of taste!

The filling was light and creamy; caramelised butter sauce wasn't overly rich. We also loved the addition of pine nuts that added a toasty and nutty depth of flavour to the overall taste! Just wished the portion was more generous!

Was craving for Vietnamese food and decided to scroll through Burpple Beyond for some money saving options. Came across 1-for-1 mains at Viet MaMa, which was reviewed quite positively, so that's where we went for dinner!

The food here was excellent I must say! Both of our mains - Rice Vermicelli w/ Grilled Pork & Spring Roll and Beef Pho were finely executed! But the star of the night was the extra side dish we ordered - the Viet Crispy Mini Pancake. So crispy and delicious, it reminded us of a Vietnamese version of vadai. We both highly recommend ordering this! All in all, this under the radar Viet place is definitely worth checking out!

I’d recently reactivated my Burpple Beyond membership and the first place I visited and used my 1-for-1 main dish deal on was Knock Knock Cafe, which I’ve been seeing on social media recently. The ambience here is indeed quite IG-worthy, but most importantly how’s their food? Here’s what we had:

~Beer Battered Mentaiko Fish & Chips ($18)
~Tiger Prawn ‘Hei Bi Hiam’ Aglio Olio ($17)
~Iced Caramel Latte ($6.50)

I thought the Beer Battered Mentaiko Fish & Chips (which I had) was pretty decent overall, the fish was nicely crisp and pretty tender, pairing well with the mentaiko sauce, while the fries (kinda reminded me of Long John Silver’s one) were nice too! As for the Tiger Prawn ‘Hei Bi Hiam’ Aglio Olio which my friend had, the portion was unfortunately small, but the hei bi hiam was quite crispy and added a nice, smokey ummai flavour to the pasta. My friend also had the caramel latte that comes with a little frozen bear! A nice caffeine fix after a heavy meal and the caramel wasn’t too sweet.

Available in 3 sizes ($10 / $12 / $15), you can choose a protein and two sides per bowl. Choose from protein choices like fish, chicken or tempeh (vegetarian option) with sides such as edamame, kimchi, achar and more. Each set also comes with a drink.

GOGO Bento is also available on Burpple Beyond, which means they are definitely one of the more value for money lunch options in the area!

Worth a try if you’re around the area, especially since they are on Burpple Beyond. The Lychee Bellini Roo Roo Tea was pretty refreshing and comes with aloe vera toppings which were nice to bite into. Available only in one size and a fixed sugar level. Might return to try their other drinks.

Kei Kaisendon is a cozy diner in Marina Square offering affordable and good sashimi bowls. What's even better is that specially for Burpple Beyond, there is an exclusive 1-for-1 set menu that's really value for money!

Choose from 6 mains including the Kei Kaisendon Signature. Each main comes with a miso soup, salad and 2pcs of mentaiyaki tamago. The sashimi was pretty fresh (portions could be more generous but no complaints) but the star for me was the tasty mentaiyaki tamago that was so addictive we wanted more!

One of my favourite drink from Hollin is their Pink Guava Rock Salt Macchiato (recommended sugar level 50%). The sweet pink guava and milky rock salt foam combination is rosy, fragrant and very refreshing! Another plus point is that they are on Burpple Beyond, so you can get another drink for free!

Deli’s Kitchen is a hidden gem located at Sunshine Plaza serving good quality Japanese food. With over 70 items in their menu, we were spoiled for choice! Here's what we tried:

Roast Beef Don: Japanese rice topped with layers of thinly sliced beef and garnished with an onsen egg. The beef was roasted to perfection; with every bite I could taste the tenderness. The simple mix of egg and rice enabled the flavours of the beef to shine through (150g - $24++).

Beef Demi Glacé Omurice: Fragrant tomato fried rice under a silky omelette blanket and tender beef slices with demi glacé sauce on the side. The dish was bursting with flavourful delight! Everything on the plate was so tasty but the demi glacé sauce was definitely the star for me ($15++).

I'd definitely be back to try their other dishes with Burpple Beyond's 1-for-1 deals.

The Plain Jane is a nice cafe to chill at with its cosy retro ambience and they are well known for their swiss rolls. The Original Crème Swiss Rolls were soft and fluffy, perfect for an after lunch / dinner indulgence due to its light nature. It is also available on Burpple Beyond for a 1-for-1 deal and we will be back to try other flavours of their swiss rolls soon.
