Sandwiches

Well executed dessert. The sticky rice was cooked to a perfect chewy consistency, and was aromatic with coconut milk. Mango was sweet and fragrant as well.
The only problem with this restaurant is the abysmal service - food took 45min to arrive, with the appetizers served after the main courses. The waitress was glum, water was never topped up, and the whole restaurant was littered with dirty plates long after diners had left
Both the prata and thosai were competently done. But if I had to choose between the two, the prata is definitely the star. It's not overly greasy, and is perfectly crisp on the outside while retaining a fluffy layered interior.
Roasted pork collar with housemade kimchi, pickles and garlic aioli ($14) paired with a plain bagel. Good but not outstanding. Pork was a little too dry.
Mixed vegetables in a rich prawn bisque ($15++). A tad expensive for a small portion best shared between two, but this was worth every cent. Broth was incredibly rich and flavourful that I couldn't resist slurping down every last drop. Service was excellent as well - server was friendly, familiar with the menu and offered great recommendations. Food arrived piping hot within minutes of ordering. Violet Oon is indeed worth the hype!
$10.80++ for a generous, well-marinated heap of sashimi on top of correctly cooked Japanese rice. Service was friendly and very efficient. No queue on a Sunday night, but the restaurant was still fairly busy. Would return.
Hidden gem located at the new KAP mall. Hearty and flavourful broth paired with chewy rice noodles and topped with a sprinkle of fried garlic. Opted for the small portion ($3.9 nett) and it was surprisingly filling with a hefty portion of noodles. There could have been more beef slices, but I'm not complaining for the price paid. The only issue I have is that service was really slow even on a quiet weekday afternoon.
This bagel shop tucked at the back of Icon Village stands heads and shoulders above its competitors. The freshly-made bagels boast a delicious crust and a dense, chewy crumb. From the extensive menu, I settled on the classic Lox ($12) and to my delight, it came with an unexpectedly generous serving of smoked salmon! Pickled beets added a tangy crunch which really helped to lift the flavours of the bagelwich. Service was prompt and friendly despite the busy weekend brunch crowd. A really excellent meal!
I find Cedele's standards highly inconsistent. The United Square outlet is a particularly bad - the two slices of bread encased a meager slice of smoked salmon, and was unacceptably dry. The service was equally lackluster: quite apart from the service staff's stony expressions, their overzealous attempts at clearing the table had one staff member leaning in and snatching away my receipt/serving tray without even first asking me.
So this dish ($15 nett) replaced my all time favorite smoked salmon sandwich with dill yogurt sauce. I still can't quite rationalize how the addition of a salad and change of sauce warrants a $6.50 increase in price.... The addition of zucchini and mushrooms didn't fit well into the dish either, although it did serve to somewhat cover the meagre serving of smoked salmon. Rather disappointing, especially coming from one of my favourite cafe chains
