Sweet Tooth

I was given this pudding to try and I was surprised at how much I liked it. The chocolate was not too sweet and sufficiently thick.

Those who are familiar with Ipoh would have heard of the silky smooth douhua from Funny Mountain. Woong Kee is just as good, if not better. I prefer mine with white sugar. That is how it is usually served in Ipoh. The sweetness is very subtle which is perfect when combined with the silky smooth douhua.

The owner of the stall in Singapore is a relative of Woong Kee and the quality is therefore similar. It is authentic, ideal for those who are missing Ipoh tau foo fah. Even if you are not from Ipoh, you would still appreciate the taste and texture of Woong Kee’s douhua.

I love coconuts! I couldn't resist myself as I walked past this shop dedicated to coconuts. It was like a bubble tea shop but with everything coconut.

I ordered the coconut shake with 25% sugar. It was still a tad too sweet for me but not overly so. The shake was smooth and creamy with bits of coconut inside. Loved it!

My Taiwanese colleague, @jasmineleemt, decided to buy both the original and cheese flavours to try. We naturally compared them to the ones from Taiwan. While not as smooth, they were still very light and fluffy. I preferred the one with cheese because it was savoury.

Thinking that it was more worth it to have 2 scoops on one cone, my daughter and I shared a double cone. There were so many unique flavours to choose from, mostly botanical inspired. Thankfully you can sample the flavours before deciding. No rude stares as I sampled just about every flavour available before deciding on strawberry basil and lychee raspberry.

The cone was infused with thyme and was made on the spot, in the store itself. In fact, you can smell the aroma of freshly baked cones the minute you step into the store.

It was a bad idea to order the double cone as each scoop was so large that by the time we got to the second scoop, the cone was already soft 😭. Take note and don't be a penny pincher. Order single cones!

The matcha warabi mochi, shiratama, azuki, rice puffs and brown sugar tea jelly, together with the homemade matcha sauce, gave the soft serve an amazing taste and texture.

Thank you @veronicaphua for introducing us to this unique soft serve. I would say that this is probably the best soft serve I've had in Singapore.

This is my favourite Swiss roll in Singapore. The kaya is so rich and fragrant. I don't typically like sweet cakes but this is one I make an exception for.
