Completing our “putok batok” meal is this deep-fried ruffled pork fat, served with chili vinegar
Never tried eating chicharon bulaklak back home cos of its unappetizing look. Never looked back after trying once 😂
Consume with caution though - very high in cholesterol

With a minimum of 2 diners, you can avail their weekend boodle fight special which serves you a platter with the following:
- Chicken Inasal
- Liempo Inasal
- Bbq Isaw
- Pork Bbq
- Pansit Canton
- Jasmine Rice
- Steamed Vegetables
- Salted Egg
(shown in photo is for 3 pax)
Yes, apt to its name, this is all meat 😅 you can opt for seafood or snack-ish set
Enjoyed the pork intestine bbq the most - crisp and cooked well. Pork bbq and liempo inasal has similar sweet & charred flavour profile, slightly heavy and filling. The chicken inasal is not bad as well, prolly the “healthiest” meat on the dish. Steamed veggies (okra, eggplant and sweet potato leaves) could be better, best paired with bagoong (sauteed shrimp paste) and salted egg
Not the best Filipino food here, but enough to fix our cravings
We opted for refillable drinks as well for additional $5++ per head

Still a milkfish lover, and more so if it’s deboned (never loved those teeny tiny bones 🥲) - thus this dish. Marinated in vinegar with hints of pepper and salt, the fish was fried nicely and not oily
This fried dish can easily be achieved at home. Buuuuut where can I have my milkfish deboned here in SG, let me knoooow 😂

Finely chopped grilled pork dish with a good amount of pork chicharon on top. Drizzled mayo could, yet again, raise eyebrows, but it added creaminess to the dish. Few bites from this sinful sisig fixed our really random Filipino food craving lol
Don’t forget your cup(s) of rice to pair this with, else too jelak

LWe were served with this big-ass bone marrow which will surely make you worry about your cholesterol 😅 I would have preferred to have the corn and bok choy separated as it toned down the taste of the broth. Nonetheless, a good alt if craving for this Filipino soup dish

✨ Dinakdakan
Charred and chopped pork tossed in calamansi and chili peppers. This dish is usually a side to an ice cold beer back home, but having it as an app/main is fine as well 😋 El Mesa’s version is quite decent but serving is a bit small
✨ Isaw
Usually cooked by grilling, but El Mesa’s marinated pork intestines were deep fried. Totally not expecting too much because of this difference, but each bite is actually nice but very sinful - high cholesterol 😂

Rmb when you order saba fish from Korean hawker stalls and it looks like a whole fish but it was just a perfect illusion as the other half is removed? It’s totally not the case for this dish as they served one big-ass smoked milkfish. It’s so flavourful and matches really well with the ensalada (mixed tomatoes/onions/mango) on the side
This is one of Pancake House’ specialty, and I would eat this every week if I could (lol rly love milkfish 😂)

Similar to ice kachang or maybe even bingsu (but different way of prepping the ice), Halo-halo (“halo” is mix in literal translation) is a crushed ice dessert with loads of toppings. Chowking (PH) is one of the popular fastfood chains offering decent halo-halos
Claiming to have 13 different ingredients, it has always been a joy to dig into it after mixing everything, under the scorching heat. Fave toppings are leche flan (crème caramel custard), sweetened banana, and purple yam
Craved for it on this very hot day 😶😶😶
The noodles were quite a disappointment - it tasted like it has been dredged in lechon oil but close to the bitter side :/
The lechon is really good, crispy exterior with very moist meat inside
The big platter of veggies, chopsuey, is only PhP 280 (~$7) and is really tasty, and generous with meat toppings
The oyster/scallops/mussels platter (PhP 999, ~$26) is, again, a steal price-wise, but could have worked better with lesser cheese
