If you're familiar with the bar @bittersandlove, there's a new concept within the same premises offering coffee, breakfast, lunch and takeaways.

It's called @free.the.robot and it just opened today (24 Nov)! I had a pleasant cup of Woolloomooloo blend latte ($5) as well as breakfast - homemade beef meatballs cushioned by a bed of fragrant jasmine rice, $11.

One bite of the beef meatballs, you can definitely tell that it's homemade. They had a nice meaty grit and they crumble in your mouth which isn't present in processed meatballs. The rice was slightly wet which made it easy to go down. Overall, it was simple comfort food that I could keep coming back for.

I had rather different expectations in my head but i am glad i dropped by!!! It was pretty cool and the guy was very friendly and even came to ask us about the taste and all, inviting us to come again and asked how we found abt this place. The porridge was packed w seafood and other stuff, so it's really flavourful and good comfort food, esp for a rainy day. :) parking spaces are kinda scarce so plan in advance!

I had ordered the Salted Egg Crab Pasta. We arrived early, kinda 7ish and it was still delightfully empty but there was a bit of crowd from 8 onwards and it was hard to chat and all. Haha. The pasta was good, i liked it cus it really tasted like salted egg and they didn't save on the gravy, though i would have preferred a bit more ingredients for the pasta. It only came with some salad veggies as dressing and curry leaves inside. But they do give also half a soft shell crab. 🍳 The portion was pretty good and i didn't finish my pasta. My friend ordered the burger and i think it was kinda messy to eat but he seemed to enjoy it. You can choose how well done your meat patty to be. 🍔

Everything we ordered was quite good. Though a bit on the salty side.... Chee cheong fun, mango/shrimp roll, porridge (q a huge portion) are all pretty good. Desserts were interesting. Custard bun is definitely worth trying. Good texture and flowy flowy custard.

Baked potato skin and breakfast combo. Potato skin was cool! Tasted pretty good. Stuffed with bacon and cheese. Nice ambience in the cafe too, with korean pop playing.

The cakes were so light and refreshing, a perfect match with the tea i had. Will definitely go again. It's a nice place to chill quietly or with a close friend. Cute decor, central location and quite quiet. :)

I loved the ambience but felt that the food was only so-so for its price. I would come here and chill and do work and read but probably not for a full main. However, they do change their menu every week and maybe i ordered the most boring stuff (chicken thigh), so yep, may still go back for a second try. :)

I love the acoustic music and quiet atmosphere. It's about half an hour to closing though. Nvm the coffee, i can stay here all day.
