Located in PLQ mall near Paya Lebar MRT station (East West Line). Hokey Poki is a cosy place to have an affordable and quick Japanese style meal.

Having been there for the first time, we were welcomed by an enthusiastic staff.

I ordered a Gyu Niku salad and Bara Chirashi Don.

Albeit on the saltier side, a generous portion of the Gyu Niku salad was served. The ingredients such as the mushroom, were premium especially for the price that we paid.

The Bara Chirashi Don was topped with some chopped up sashimi, avocado and sprinkled with some roe, sesame and seaweed bits. The purple or black rice at the bottom was fragrant and palatable. Both the toppings and rice proved to be a great match. However, it would have been better if the amount of toppings like the sashimi, matched the amount of rice.

Will come back for a casual meal again if I am at PLQ!

Located near Tanjong Pagar MRT (East West Line), this shop serves a variety of ramen, from Tsukumen to Hokkaido Sapporo Ramen and rice bentos. They serve really generous portions, especially for the Tsukumen I ordered.

The Tsukumen tasted pretty good, with the accompaniment of grilled chicken that were tender.

As for the rest of the ramens that I tried, they tasted like a fusion of chinese noodles soup rather than sapporo ramen styles that I tried in Japan. It might probably be their own twist! If you are looking for something more authentic, then this might not be for you.

The staffs were friendly and attended well to us. Additionally, if you have JPassport account, you can redeem a free chicken karaage.

Located in Mapletree Business City near Labrador Park MRT. It is generally crowded during meal times but the food is enough for 1 portion of lunch. Quality of food is good. Prices generally range between $12-$18. You can add on with the sides if you happen to be hungry!

Visited Sushiro during the first week it opened with a reservation made 4 days prior to the date itself. Arrived 15 minutes earlier and checked in so that I had a place by the actual time I booked! However, if you did not book, do note that walk-ins might not be available especially during dinner time!

Most of the plates are priced at $2.20++ and the rest at $3.20++ and $4.80++ . If you spend over $20, you will receive a stamp on the Sushiro card.

Being a prawn lover, I must say that their prawn sashimis sushis are really as fresh as it can get. Tunas were good too!

However, the Unis, beef and salmon were not as fresh as I expected it to be.

It’s the closest that one can get if you miss Sushiro in Japan! Will come back again once in awhile.

Tried the Shack Stack. Have tried Shake Shack in other countries before and this outlet just doesn’t match up to its said standard.

The mushroom was overly fried and the patty was too tough. The hotdog was too tough as well.

I liked the cheese sauce for the fries though. It isn’t the usual Nacho cheese sauce that we get on our cheese fries in Singapore. It’s much lighter in taste which suited my tastebuds.

Wouldn’t crave for it in SG again !

Heard and saw this from friends and social media! Gave the Matcha Brown Sugar Milk Tea a try. The Matcha was roasty and pearl was not too hard (even after some time) However, if you are looking for a thicker and stronger tasting matcha like me then this will not be your choice 😬

The platter of sushi was fresh and the selection of sashimi topping them were fresh! A full set that includes chawanmushi, miso, salad and tempura as well. Set lunches are available at $18 & $23 as well!
(Oh yes! They have a good selection of Sake!)
