cafehopping - brunch!
We first tried the waffle with mixed berries sorbet, and it was fluffy rather than the crispy version, though could be a tad dry.
We then tried the duck confit on its own, which tasted like Chinese version of braised duck (as quoted from @duncanchew), and the skin wasn’t crispy. Tender as it is, the meat easily tears off from the bones.
Since berries and duck confit are best friend, you can rest assured that this combination will not fail – simply because the berries can balance the savoury component of the duck and you get to enjoy the sweetness of the berries at the same time.
Though I have to comment that this is the most watery version of berry compote that I have ever seen. Skip the duck together with the waffle, because both texture don’t seem to marry well.

We ordered the Prawn & Poached Egg Pasta ($17) because we always couldn’t resist sexy eggporn.
The grilled prawns were tossed with linguini and white wine cream sauce, together with the poached egg and rocket.
The creamy pasta was such a comfort food, accompanied by a well-balanced cream sauce without overpowering your palate. So for those who are not really fans of cream base, give this a try!

One of the new dessert items include Crispy Cinnamon Donuts with Nutella Truffle Dip ($13), and yes you hear me right, NUTELLA TRUFFLE. Who would have thought that truffle can go well with chocolate. Seems like everything really do go well with truffle, and the dip was the perfect triumvirate of flavours!
Scent of truffle was so strong that it imparted a rich flavour to the donuts. And if I may warn you now, you have to resist not having the dip on its own…and wiping it clean.

If you are finally awake and craving for brunch, you will be glad to know that they offer all day brunch over the weekends and Public Holidays till 6pm!
Currently the best seller amongst all, BBQ Pork Belly Benedict with Cayenne Hollandaise ($18) is uniquely paired differently from the usual benedict option. Tender and marinated slices of pork belly were laid atop the muffin, and the cayenne hollandaise added an additional hint of spice to the overall flavour.
Carnivore lovers would definitely appreciate this option! Oh, I finally have @weeatfish lengendary cloth in my feed!
Thank you @rooseveltsdinerbar and @hungryamanda for the hosted meal, and @where.is.karl for extending!

at first smell, the truffle didn't stand out like the way truffled fries were, which usually send the strong truffle smell across the place. but at first bite, the truffle oil was evenly infused into the leek & mushroom! everything blends in well with the poached eggs and toast. the leek was cut finely so even a non-leek lover like me enjoyed the combination with the rest.
since it is a Spanish theme, they incorporated romesco sauce and chorizo. the nut and red pepper-based sauce helped to balance the overall taste, but the chorizo overpowered the rest. kinda salty and as what I shared with them, both chorizo and truffled leek + mushroom were fighting for my taste bud's attention.
nevertheless, they were really patient in hearing our feedback and explained the idea behind the dish. R&D is always exciting, so I look forward to seeing refinements and new dishes. thanks for having us!
consisting egg ben protected by crown puff, bacon, red wine braised oxtail, sautéed mushrooms, baked tomato and chicken sausage. highlight of the dish was certainly the crown puff that was really flaky and buttery! 1 crown puff was definitely not enough.
other dishes were really good as well, and I was impressed with how tender the oxtail was. probably a rare item to be included as part of a brunch menu.
truffle oil was generously infused with the buttery and cheesy scrambled eggs, and it gave an additional crunch with bits of cherry tomatoes.
unusual way of eating poached eggs, since cafes usually use bread or thick toast. couldn't really taste the pumpkin, but I found chunks of pumpkin towards the end. love the overall taste with the crunchy tobiko roe with every bite!
have a great long weekend!
