I was initially a little disappointed when it arrived because of the lack of colours. I would appreciate if they had served this with some strawberries instead of that boring looking dollop of cream that I didn't need. Vanilla bean ice cream is nice though.

I was further disappointed when I cut into the lava cake to find very little lava flow. It wasn't that the lava was too thick to flow but there just wasn't much liquid in there in the first place.

But I fell in love with the first bite. The bittersweet dark chocolate cake is crusty outside, soft and fluffy inside. And that tiny bit of lava flow is actually my favourite salted caramel butter! While I am used to having chocolate lava in my chocolate lava cakes, I think the use of salted caramel lends the cake a nice mix of flavor so that it's not just boring chocolate. Of course, that could be just me, the salted caramel fan fangirling. 🙈🙊😂
