La Risata has held their fort in Ampang for over two decades, and the quality of this Italian restaurant has never failed us. The space is cosy, sporting exposed brick walls and warm lighting suited for an intimate dinner with a few friends. Skip the process of sifting through their very varied menu and go for these top dishes that our Burpple community loves. Though simple in presentation, the Ravioli Di Pesce (salmon ravioli, RM28) wins us over everytime. Each pasta pocket boasts a slippery, al-dente texture and smothered in a tasty creamy sauce. For those who prefer rice, there is the Risotto Nero Con Calamari Ripeni (squid ink risotto, RM37) that comes with braised stuffed calamari. The rice is cooked to perfect plumpness, and every black grain bursts with the piquant flavours of squid ink. Before leaving, order the Cannoli (RM16) to share. Sweet ricotta cream encased in a crispy fried pastry shell, this hot-and-cold dessert is a decadent way to end the meal.

When talking about this well-loved Italian restaurant, you'll immediately think of their cosy space, friendly service and the tasty pizza and pasta. On pizzas, their thin and crispy wood-fired versions always hit the spot, so bring along some foodie friends for a meal. Get the Pizza Romano (RM29) for cheesy goodness topped with anchovies, otherwise, the Pizza Carbonara (RM28) with beef bacon and mushroom is also an excellent choice. Off-menu pizza specials are often available too – just refer to the chalkboard to see what they’re serving for the day.

Recommended by the team here, this pie sees anchovy baked with the tomato and mozzarella, and finally topped off with fresh basil and Parmesan. A really decent pie, and despite its super thin crust, it fills you up! I like my chewy crusts but I have to admit that I really enjoyed the crispy, biscuit-like one here too.
Date night food doesn’t have to just be eaten at night! We ventured to La Risata on a Sunday afternoon to treat ourselves and once again was not disappointed. The tortellini was soft, full and juicy. The pizza was perfectly crusted and the smoked salmon, tuna and rocket salad was a perfect pairing as well.
Food overall with a ginger ale was RM99
Nothing spells romance like warmly lit dinners over Italian grub. The restaurant exudes a welcoming vibe, and the classic Italian dishes are more than satisfactory for two — wood-fired pizzas and pasta dishes for the win. Portions are rather generous, so we suggest turning this night into a double or triple date night out. The more the merrier!

Traditional wood-fired oven thin and crispy pizzas with generous toppings. Opens till late night and has a lively atmosphere. Parkings are usually limited at store front, best to park at the surrounding neighbourhood
