KL's Best Pizza Spots
For the next night out with the gang, suggest pizza and wine at this swanky two-storey restaurant in APW Bangsar. Proof offers both 8inch and 12inch pizzas in delicious flavours like the popular Umbrian Black Truffle Pizza (from RM32) with black truffle paste. One of the few spots in town to fire pizzas with pork, the Carne (RM33) loaded with salami, pancetta and lamb is made for carnivores. Pizza this good should be paired with a drink, and the friendly team are more than wiling to help recommend wines (by the bottle or glass) that go best with your pie. P.s Spot Proof’s second outlet in Plaza Arcoris, Mont Kiara.

Not only does this pizza joint sport a self-built wood-fire oven, they also make both their sourdough pizza dough and buffalo mozzarella in-house. How much cooler can they get? This unassuming spot in Shah Alam does Neapolitan-style pizzas justice with their take on the classic Margherita (RM26), which is taken up a notch with their housemade mozzarella that's lusciously milky and bouncy. Another crowd pleaser is the Beef Pepperoni (RM26) brimming with salty pepperoni. For those with a sweet tooth, WOP also offers dessert pies, and the Nutella and Strawberry (RM22) drizzled with dark chocolate syrup is sinfully delicious.

If it's a simple and fuss-free dinner you're looking for, keep this newbie in Happy Mansion in mind the next time you're craving a slice. Bring a couple of friends with you to enjoy the classic Hey Margherita! (RM22), which Burppler Kate MunYi enjoyed for its light and fluffy dough, coupled with the harmonious flavours from the sweet yet acidic passata, cheese and fresh basil. Meanwhile, the Pineapple Express (RM30) with smoked duck and jalapeno left Burppler Serena Ho very impressed with its surprising combo that works well. When talking about this well-loved Italian restaurant, you'll immediately think of their cosy space, friendly service and the tasty pizza and pasta. On pizzas, their thin and crispy wood-fired versions always hit the spot, so bring along some foodie friends for a meal. Get the Pizza Romano (RM29) for cheesy goodness topped with anchovies, otherwise, the Pizza Carbonara (RM28) with beef bacon and mushroom is also an excellent choice. Off-menu pizza specials are often available too – just refer to the chalkboard to see what they’re serving for the day.

The burger maestros of myBurgerLab are now taking on pies with a wild, wild twist. Think unusual pairings like beef sausage with blueberry vinaigrette, smoked duck with orange and cempedak with boba. Try the Huat The Duck (RM35) that carries an appetising sweet-umami flavour. If you prefer the classics, the no-fail mushroom-heavy Honey Truffle Bella (RM35) with truffle oil is rich and simply delicious. Make tummy room for dessert pies when here. The popular Cempedak Boba Pizza (RM25) has the right balance of sweet and salty from the condensed milk and cheese. Also, how can we resist anything with boba?

The perfect combo of pizza and root beer can be found at this American-themed pizzeria. Mikey’s is also one of the few places on this list where you can buy pies by the slice, so file this spot away the next time you’re looking for a quick and tasty solo lunch. You can’t go wrong with the Classic New York Pizza (a slice, RM9.95) chock-full of cheese. Otherwise, the beefy Tony Soprano Pizza (a slice, RM17.88) is a good meaty choice. Feeling extra hungry on your lunch hour? Upgrade your meal to a set from RM12.88 that comes with waffle fries and that ice-cold root beer.

Nestled in Publika Shopping Gallery is this homely pizza joint that's been serving the neighbourhood with quality pies for over five years. The restaurant is typically full for dinner, so make a reservation before swinging by. Try the cream sauce-based Popeye The Sailor (from RM30.90) featuring chicken breast, spinach and an egg. They also do calzones (a stuffed and folded pizza), and the hearty Meat Lover (RM26.90) loaded with roasted and minced beef, cherry tomatoes and peppers is a guaranteed tummy-filler. Pizza and beer go hand in hand, so wash down that meal with a smooth Hofp German White Beer (RM20.90).
