Saw a pretty long queue for this hor fun stall and decided to try! The Beef Hor Fun ($5) was silky smooth and came with a substantial amount of wok hei. The sauce itself was quite light tasting, but you can taste the egg flavour within. The beef slices were rather tender, but I wished that they could have been more well seasoned, as there wasn't much flavour. Their green chilli were satisfyingly crunchy and had quite a kick!
Not bad, this will be an option when I'm around the area!
Kee Hock
448 Clementi Ave 3, #01-43, Singapore 120448
Had always walked pass Kee Hock multiple times throughou the pass decade, and never got to try it.
The Wok hei from the hor fun is evident in every bite. Fish slices were adequately fresh.
Gravy a little light on the soya sauce.
This stall in Clement 448 Market and FC always has a long queue during peak hours. The reason is quite plain because they have one of the best wok heat for their Hor Fun. The smokiness comes across as soon as you are served.
I ordered their beef Hor Fun ($5) and asked to add green chilli. The rice noodles were well fried with soya sauce, each strand coated evenly, a joy with every bite. The beef was marinated with soya and oyster sauce before frying. They were very tender and owner was generous with the amount. I counted 9 pieces in total. The green chilli were piquant but didn’t pack enough heat. It did complete the taste of the noodles, savoury and sour.
Must come back to try the other items in their menu, seafood, sliced fish, or change the hor fun to rice or Mui Fun.
Long gone are the days where they have superb wok hey probably, but this was very comforting. It's well executed as the sauce is slippery enough yet there's a bit of viscosity. Clearly not those that are goopy and disgusting. Beef was very tender too.
Queue moves reasonably quickly
I really like the gravy, it was very smooth and tasty just like the slices fish. Wok hey enough and not so sticky. $4.50
It's really amazing that a simple dish like this could be packed with layers and layers of intensified flavours. Distinct wok-hei taste from the hor fun, a good hearty portion of tender beef slices, good old bok choy to give that needed crunch, all of that drenched in the savoury eggy-flavoured sauce. Taste palates were just begging for more with every mouth full of that beef hor fun. Add on a few slice of the red chilli padi/green chilli slices to get that extra heat.
