Tried the Gula Melaka Pandan Bar ($5.20) from Joe & Doe, and it was love at first bite!
The combination of rich gula melaka (palm coconut sugar) and fragrant pandan was absolute perfection.
Paired it with a cup of freshly brewed robust coffee ($6.30), which complemented the sweetness of the cake beautifully.
The coffee was bold, yet smooth, with a hint of bitterness that cut through the richness of the gula melaka.

Shakshuka and breakfast set - was affordable and was pleasantly surprised at how good this was!!

This unassuming slice of cake tastes BEST when heated up! How can it be fluffy and dense at the same time? It is definitely worth a 💯😉

The best thing is, it is part of a tea break set! We only topped up 90 cents on top of the Americano 😎

The Pandan Gula Melaka slice (smaller version of their slice of cake) had a fragrant Pandan base with a cake-like texture. The gula melaka was not too cloyingly sweet and was finished perfectly with a strong fresh grated coconut taste.

Paired perfectly with a rather robust Americano, it was the perfect way to spend tea-time in the quaint cafe. Their Signature D.r Joe 1914 comes highly recommended too.
