Ordered 2 butter chicken $17.90 each (Burpple 1-for-1). Butter chicken gravy was thick but it is served in a small bowl. Felt like I have tried nicer ones. Verdict: 7.5/10
Tandoori Chicken 4 pc $16 was good. Freshly grilled and marinated with freshly pound masala and yoghurt. Comes with option of 2pc/4pc/8pc with price $9/$16/$30 accordingly.
Located at an old mall in Bukit Timah, it is a quaint little restaurant with āfine diningā like cutlery. Parking is pretty hard to find. Went on Friday night and it was fairly empty. Only 1 waiter hence service wasnāt as prompt. Ordered 2 butter chicken $17.90 (Burpple 1-for-1), 4 pieces of tandoori chicken $16, garlic naan $4, butter naan $4, chapati $5 & mango lassi $5. Naans were amazing, chapati is average, butter chicken was thick and a small bowl (have tried nicer one), mango lassi was sour. Verdict: 6/10
Ordered the Butter Chicken, Dum Methi Machli, Garlic Naan and Cheese Naan. Food was great! And they provide water FOC! I'll definitely visit again when I'm in the area.
Do note that if you've got leftovers and you wish to pack them to go, you've got to pay an extra $1/container.
Ordered the signature Butter Chicken ($17.9) and Chicken Tikka Masala ($17.9) with burpple beyond 1-for-1, added on Garlic and Butter Naan ($4 for 2 pieces each flavour).
So delicious! Came during a rainy evening, and the food literally warmed me up from the inside. Thereās something so comforting about a warm naan dipped in the rich sauces...
Of the 2 chicken dishes, I preferred the Chicken Tikka Masala as it was slightly spicier, while my partner preferred the sweeter and creamier Butter Chicken. Both were really delicious! Somehow the Butter Naan paired better with the spicier Chicken Tikka Masala and the Garlic Naan paired better with the sweeter Butter Chicken.
Food was served promptly and there was a small sink to wash your hands before digging in. We were also served a jug of water and some crackers with a dip before the mains were served, which was a very nice touch. There were gravy left that I did not want to waste and the staff kindly packed it up for me as well āŗļø
Bill came out to $28.49 after 10% service charge. Overall, so worth it for the quality of the food and good service. Would definitely return! ššš»
[ Food Review ā My new-old neighbourhood Indian restaurant haunt ] Ever since Curry Gardenn closed for good, Iāve been trying to find a replacement in my neighbourhood. Cue a certain someone non-too-subtly reminding me of Indian Curry House at Sixth Avenue Centre. (Thanks for the reminder ā my fam hasnāt visited in years, oops!)
Most restaurants tout themselves as offering restaurant quality food using fine ingredients in a deluxe setting/ambience. Big surprise, most of them donāt. ICH extols the same things with one major difference ā it actually lives up to the standards! (Donāt worry, the prices arenāt inordinate.)
As it tends to be when we eat out, we were famished, which prompted us to order a little too enthusiastically. And thatās how we ended with this mini feast before us: Mutton Sheekh Kebab ($17.90), Kashimiri Rogam Josh ($17.90), and Chicken Masala ($16.90) as our mains, Aloo Gobi ($12.90) as my much needed veg side, and finally Garlic Naan ($4) for him and Peshawari/Kashmiri Naan ($6) for me. (Spoiler: We had to takeaway a bunch of stuff!)
Goodness, the flavours were even better than Iād remembered! Perhaps itās a product of how ravenous we were, or maybe itās my expanding appreciation for Indian cuisine, but I was more than satisfied with everything on our table. (As a bonus, the food arrived hot, and didnāt take too long either!)
A couple of highlights for the night: The kebab was excellent! When I get a kebab, Iām not just looking to have meat roasted on a stick (I can do it in my kitchen, or grab some satay) ā Iām looking for that earthen roast and charcoal singe that give the outer layer its characteristic flavour. And yes, you do get that here! Better yet, these were packed with a kaleidoscope of spices bursting forth with each bite. I was smitten.
The other surprise of the night was the rogam josh. Iām usually not one for tomato-centric (and even less so for onion-heavy) curries, but the mutton here was so tender, and the curry was so vibrant, that despite already being full-up lamb from the kebab, I continued to spoon this onto my naan!
Oh their naan was excellent too! Defo get yourself 1-2 servings ā the texture is excellent!
