It’s clear from the photo how Gallery & Co.’s take (priced at $8.50) doesn’t have the creamy, melty, oozy centres we associate with these burnt cheesecakes. Don’t get me wrong, as far as cheesecakes go this is an amazingly delicious one. It’s got just enough tang, ain’t overly sweet, and definitely boasts that creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture that will one-up regular NY cheesecakes. The accompanying chantilly cream is worthy of praise as well with its cloud-like ethereal texture 👌🏻 One thing though: the top is definitely burnt. I’m sure when they say “burnt” cheesecake they’re referring to that Maillard reaction and that beautiful resulting caramelisation, but over here it’s 100% burnt for sure — in the traditional, turned to carbon, bitter af sense. Not the most pleasant.
except these dishes that dropped our expectations.
Their rendition of the Laksa pasta was lemak but mellowed down in spiciness. Perhaps friendlier for non-locals but we would prefer more kick in our Laksa. With the squeeze of lime, it kinda tasted more like a green curry pasta than the former.
However, their beef don was rather disappointing, especially with the unappealing shades of the grilled beef that looked and tasted pale. It just didn’t help that the proportion of ingredients to rice looked bad in presentation. Not the kind of standards that we remembered them by previously.
The beef bowl was overall quite nice, with great flavours. However, the laksa pesto on the other hand was rather disappointing as it tasted bland, although it smelled really good. The crab meat on the laksa pesto was fresh so thats a bonus
Only worth it because of the entertainer 1 for 1 deal!
They just launch a new menu this week and came to give it a try while they are having the promotion.
Probably museum is not where you will look for lunch or dinner, but Gallery & Co actually served a really good proper meal like this one.
The steam fish was juicy and soft, it taste fresh and delicious! It definitely a good comfort food for your lunch or dinner. $18
A day in National Gallery couldn’t complete without some dessert here.
The cheese cake taste great with the cream and you probably enjoy the cheese melt in in your mount for every bite till it finish.
Ambience is great on a weekday lunch! Built a bowl of Singapore flavours infused salad bowl to enjoy the afternoon in this serene Gallery!
