In my Ma La Xiang Guo I had potato vermicelli, quail eggs, beancurd skin and potato slices. The total price was $6 which is very cheap compared to the other places. The “Ma” flavour was there too. Love it!

Depending on your choice of ingredients, each bowl would vary in costs. Our bowl for 3 pax cost about $12 and the portion was generous. Mala Xiang Guo has always been one of my favourite dishes as I love that fiery numbing taste coupled with the really fragrant aroma of the cumin and other spices. Although my capacity for the chilli-O-meter is not low, I would always choose the lowest spice level when ordering this so that I get a good balance of the heat and the flavours of each ingredient. Fu Yuan Ma La Xiang Guo at ABC Brickworks Food Centre executes their rendition really well which meant my lunch was so darn full-filling!
