Food Republic (Causeway Point)

Had the Ah Chew Beef Noodle ($7) back it the days when I was in republic polytechnic. I kind of forgot how it taste but remember it was good.

Coming back, I gave it a try and it was not bad but not a place I would specially go to for it. Soup wise, taste not as strong as before.

This pretty unassuming stall at Food Republic in Causeway Point serves one of the better dry beef noodles in Singapore! For $6.50, you get a bowl of 粗米粉 in the stall's homemade black gravy, coupled with generous servings of sliced beef. Do note that the stall tends to overcook their beef (aka medium - well done) and if you want the beef to be more tender, you need to tell them in advance! There will be more than enough gravy to go with your noodles, so you won't have to worry about it running out!

You will also enjoy a bowl of beef broth, which comes with four beef balls as well! Hence, we think this is pretty worth it for the price! The stall has a reputation for being the "descendant" of the Odeon beef noodles stall at North Bridge Road previously, hence, you can expect a pretty decent queue at the stall during mealtimes!

Generous portion for food court standard. Had it with pumpkin rice. It’s yummy! 😋

Lixin Fishball Noodles never fails to tip my traditional food fare senses.

You can also easily find Ya Fu Mini Wok at any of their 10 food republic outlets. The live cooking for each dish would surely attract tourists, but what attracts me is the strong wok-hei fragrance from the freshly cooked meal.

Pictured here is Ya Fu Mini Wok's White Bee Hoon $5.60, served with seafood, in a lightly sweet broth. The bee hoon here soaks up the goodness from the broth, making it delightfully flavourful. My other personal favourite is their Salted Egg Chicken Rice $6.60
