The porridge had wok hey. Although there is no meat, the porridge still had umami. They fried it with dried shrimps, dried squid and yam. Very unique in in SG. Recommend to try again.
[JALAN BESAR, SINGAPORE] Everyone, I think I have found another great hidden zichar restaurant in the heart of the Jalan Besar region! Even though this was a tasting, I enjoyed the food alot and I will be back again ๐
If @dynasty_fried_porridge calls themselves this way, their Dynasty Famous Fried Porridge ๐ฒ ($8.50 for small portion) should be good. True enough, it was very smoky and had a strong umami. It wasn't too salty either, and I appreciated the little bits of yam within that added texture to this dish!
What's even better is their Hong Shao Braised Pork Stir Fried Bee Hoon ๐ ($11) which was so flavourful. It had a good wok hei, and they managed to not make the noodles soggy! The meat was very tender as well.
For sides, their Prawns Paste Wings ๐ ($13 for smal portion) was really a great accomplishment. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, I liked how it wasn't too salty and yet delivered the umami we expect from prawn paste. What's even better was their Salted Egg Sotong ๐ฆ, as it was so crispy, and yet the squid within wasn't overcooked! The squid pieces tasted very fresh and didn't seem frozen.
When all dishes are hits, you know their chef really has the skills. I can't wait to bring my friends and family here! Thank you @dynasty_fried_porridge for the invite ๐
Smooth and thick fried porridge with slices of meat, taro and shrimp, topped with fried shallots and pork lard. The porridge is wok-fried and then scooped into a claypot to serve. It has a deep and smoky wok-hei aroma. The flavours of the porridge were strong and not too salty. This is a comforting bowl of porridge thatโs perfect for the rainy day ใ$7 / small
KL-style Hokkien mee with cabbage, pork slices and shrimp generously coated in dark soya sauce then topped with crispy pork lard. I like the wok-hei and savoury flavours in there. The thicker noodles are well coated in sauce with a bouncy chewy texture thatโs quite similar to udon ใ$7 / small
Fried porridge ็็ฒฅ originated from Penang. Dynasty Fried Porridge is supposed to be the original and best in Singapore.

noodles had a nice flavour. But its a bit costly at $6. Especially when there is a char siew noodle stall next door.
Their fried porridge seemed q popular though.
