Delicious Waffles And Fries Ordered the 忘不了waffles and truffle fries via pick-up today. The waffles go very well with the condensed milk and maple syrup. It is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The truffle fries are fragrant and it is enough to serve 2 to 3 people.

Mala Mac & Cheese ($15.90) Cheesy oven baked elbow pasta simmered in mala sauce with mushroom and bacon topped with half boiled egg and parmesan cheese. This was so damn delicious, that we finished the whole bowl within minutes! With the stringy and salty melted cheese, the spicy mala added another dimension of flavour to the dish. Together, they made for a lively and unstoppable party of flavours! Highly recommended!

A simple pasta meal meal on the neighbourhood. They had a number of interesting Asian flavours on their menu. Think Kecap Manis, Assam Pedas or Roasted Zucchini. We had the Assam Pedas which delivered in terms of the spicy and punchy taste like that of an Assam fishhead curry. Also tried their Beef Ragu which couldn’t compare in taste. What we felt was missing was some good fresh made pasta that would definitely boost the taste of the pastas. Otherwise, for those attracted to these Asian flavours, their sandwich menu might also appeal.

Pork Knuckle After the dismal first try at their Jln Sultan outlet, thought I should try the one done by Toa Payoh outlet as recommended by my friends who have had patronised this outlet as very value-for-money - to get a whole knuckle at such price, at a neighbourhood Coffeeshop, and they do a good job in making the knuckle. I was initially hesitant thinking it might be a small knuckle. It was a pleasant surprise when I saw the portion/size! And love the Hot crisp crackling! 👍

Quality Food At Affordable Price This picture doesn’t do the food enough justice. This is 1/2 pork knuckle with two chicken chops. The amount is enough to feed 2. We used the burpplebeyond 1 for 1 and ordered another 1/2 pork knuckle with spaghetti for two starving gluttons. The whole meal costed us $18.9 and was good enough to serve 4. The food was so good we finished everything even though we were so so stuffed. We were so full we had to skip dinner. Glad we found this place. Definitely coming back even if there is no 1 for 1 coz it’s worth it!! No regrets👍🏻

Satisfying Value For Money With Burpple Beyond Deals Everything was perfect except the fantastic four sausage. Not that the sausages were not nice, however personally find it relatively not worth it to have 4 sausages at price of $25.90. Located in a coffee shop. Only downside about the ambience was there were many smoking elderly chilling out.

Waffle wif pandan Gelato @$8.80 The irony of Having a sinful snack at a place called Shrove Tuesday; dawned on me. Shrove Tuesday is a the day that Catholics and some Christians know, as the day before Ash wednesday, it is also called "pancake day". Google it, its true. The waffles here were not bad, it could have been better. The pandan Gelato was quite good, and the sweet taste goes really very well with the hot waffles. Will return again someday time try the charcoal waffles. They have many gelato flavours as well, so u will be Spoilt for choices.

Waffle + Double Scoop (Rum&Raisin, Pistachio) $14.5 The staff said that only the plain waffles were 1 for 1, the ice cream was not, and signature waffles were not included in burpple deals. Was a little disappointed overall, as the waffles were normal-tasting, a little too hard and not evenly baked. The run&raisin ice cream was smooth and rich, while the pistachio ice cream was a little icy.

Wagyu Beef Burger Freshly prepared burger, cooked to perfection. Still pink inside, it's like eating Beef Tataki in a bun. Try their Thai flavoured Bangers and Mash, homemade fresh sausages , infused with Basil etc but tasted a little more like Polygonum leaves/ Daun Kesom/ Laksa leaves.

Lamb T-bone Lamb steak served with mixed vegetables and roast potatoes. $23.50 (but I had a 50% discount) which made it extremely worth it. The meat was medium rare yet tender and the mint sauce complemented the lamb flavour.

Buffalo Chicken Burger Spicy grilled chicken (extremely tender) topped with caramelized onions, (crisp) turkey bacon and blue cheese sauce! The burger and fries portion was huge. Extremely worth it for $14.50.

Sparks Special Wrap It's been a while since I last patronised Sparks, and I think they have once again made their shopfront a little more inviting than before. Their house special wrap (S$12.80) was delicious, with prawns, egg, cheese, sausage and cucumber wrapped in toasted tortilla wrap. And that yellow thing in the picture is none other than sliced peach! I enjoyed the flavour of this item, and it's guaranteed to be filling! Of course, not forgetting that this place primarily serves bottled beer and pastries, food still tastes relatively good, but food preparation may be a little longer than typical cafes. On the other hand, if you are prepared to chill here for a while when not operating at optimal capacity, the waiting time will not be a turn-off factor. And, good thing now is that they do not only handle cash transactions. Payment can be done by NETS too!

Rainbow Checkered Cake In my opinion, Sparks is a bakery that serves some simple comfort food for small groups no bigger than 4 persons. However, you know that this place is run by a group of very sincere people who just gave the experience a homely feel. Don't expect barista-brewed coffee or hipster-themed decor, but just a cosy corner of Thomson V One. If you are here alone or with your date, opt for the seats at the back of the unit. I enjoyed reading a book while having my afternoon tea or post-dinner desserts here. And if you ever drop by, don't skip the cakes. This Rainbow Checkered Cake is a novelty for Instagrammers as the combination of rainbow colours and the light sprinkle of rainbow rice is somewhat unique, compared to most of the rainbow cakes and cheesecakes that you see out there. They have Sugee Loaves available for takeaway too. Chocolate lovers will love their Sparks Chocolate Madness cake.

Oven Baked Duck ($16.90) I write, not because the duck is so amazing that I can't leave without it. But I write, because of the ultra kind hospitality that the owners of this small joint had shown, twice that I was there. As you know, my meal times are so irregular that usually dinner is probably at 10pm onwards. As stated, they closed at 10pm, but at 10pm they still welcome me in, to cook up a storm just for me. I was extremely touched, especially when they had already washed up and prepared to close for the night. The decor of the place is so inviting, homely, and extremely warm that you might feel like you just entered into their house. The oven baked duck that I ordered is done nicely, not dry, seasoned just right, and drizzled with their homemade cranberry sauce. Tender meat, just fall off the bone so easily, that I did not have any issue cutting up the meat. The salad on the side, is crisp and the dressing had a dash of sour vinaigrette. The smashed potatoes on the side, smooth and delicately season well, with good amount of bacon bits tossed in to make the potatoes a good balance. Oh, did I mention that they have a good extensive list of beers and sake. Probably a good place to chill out, only any given day, if you are nearby.
