Always a good coffee if itās from Mellower :-)
Pretty decent coffee!
This was the udon that changed my life because of the frickin delicious umami flavour bomb broth!!!!!!! And the super flavourful, tender beef slices ššš I donāt know how to describe the taste but itās just damn nice lor. The soup was light and not too heavy on the palette so I cleared it every single time. The udonās texture was the best during my first visit though, being chewy and a little firmer but the following two visits were a little softer which I didnāt rly mind but ack... I donāt like soft noodles as much.
I had the Chicken Chop with Mushroom Cream Sauce ($10.90) and chose cold spaghetti and coleslaw as the two sides. Iād say the sides were a real miss LOL the spaghetti tasted like mala/sesame/super Chinese-styled flavouring which is weird for a cold dish, I was expecting something garlic-based but nup life is full of surprises. The coleslaw was a little too tangy :( BUT the mushroom cream sauce was SO. GOOD. Light, flavourful and tasty!!!! Paired super well with the succulent chicken thigh š
bro...... frickin good sia, I think itās the same batter as the F&C so itās as light and crispy but a tad too oily. Damn huge and worth it for the price!!?!!?? They also gave complimentary Butter Rolls for each main ordered and OOMMMAAAIIII I LOVEEEEEEE!!!! So buttery and just fluffy enough YO I LOVE BREAD. The bread and mashed potatoes are enough to get me coming back.
I had the Char-grilled Striploin (200g) ($22) along with cream spinach and stir fried Brussel sprouts. Had the steak medium well cos I donāt like bloody meat so maybe that contributed to it being a bit tougher. Meat was acceptably juicy and flavours were so-so, found the mushroom sauce too diluted. I have to say that I rly enjoyed the cream spinach cuz it was not just cream but it had cheese in it as well so it was rather flavourful. The brussel sprouts were a little bitter but ok lah I donāt mind it and there were bits of bacon in both veges. Wouldnāt mind returning but tbh for $22 there are better steaks out there, tho this is a fuss-free option aside from astons or collinās!
Drinks are subpar, so are the eclairs. Wonāt revisit.
Popped by to grab a few croissants since it was on the way and was SHOCKED AT THE PRICE IN STORE OK LIKE WAT da hECK DAMN EXPENSIVE. This Hojicha Cruffin was $6.90..... holy cow itās not even big but I just took it anyway because the other flavours available didnāt appeal to me. And frankly speaking, I canāt justify the price paid lah like itās just too small to be priced this high and doesnāt taste amazing leh. Itās nice lah like the hojicha filling was not too sweet, had a good bitter-roasted flavour and was smooth. However, the cruffin isnāt buttery enough as Iād like croissants to be but itās very crispy!! I have to give it credit for itās crispiness cos I bought this like 3 days ago LOL and it still tasted fresh after reheating so itās fine and kinda surprising. I also got the Almond Croissant ($4.50) which also remained crispy when I sneaked a bite from the fridge HAHAHA nothing rly impressive la if u ask me........ å¤Ŗ蓵äŗ and the location ulu so I wouldnāt specially travel down again :( if I were to compare this to Keong Saikās cruffins, I would prefer KS in terms of taste (and price/size too)!!
The Fried Mee Sua ($0.80) was rly to shout about!!!! Such a simple dish but yet so tasty?! Itās covered in a savoury onion/black soya sauce dressing oof I rly liked this, five bowls for me pls. The Fried Large Intestines ($6) were very fresh, no weird gamey taste or stench, had a little harjeonggai kinda seasoning??? Very enjoyable side!!!
Fried Mixed Organ Porridge ($5) was such a pleasant surprise. We could taste the wokhei in it and was very smooth, flavourful and easily digestible. They were quite generous w the liao inside also š
The Braised Pork Knuckle ($5) was not the best Iāve ever had but a pretty decent one! Asked for a leaner serving and itās very fleshy for the price, very worth it!!!
On the contrary... the Bak Kut Teh ($6) was so mediocre and lacklustre. Not peppery, the soup did not hold much flavour nor kick, it was just a subpar bowl of bkt. But aside from this, I would gladly recommend everything else weāve tried. ESP THE MEE SUA š
We chose the Pistachio (of course, itās me leh, this is the only aiskleem flavour that supersedes everything else in the world) and the Spectaculoos Cookies & Cream or smth along that line LOL along with the sourdough waffle ($4), I think the premium flavour was an additional 70c? Omg means a single scoop is only $3 ok I did not realise that, DAMN AFFORDABLE YO.
The waffles were fragrant sia, on point eh the taste bc it was a little sour but so so so so so so so delicious!!!!!! A pity it wasnāt as crunchy as Iād hoped for it to be but rly, the batter was on point. Iād say the ice cream wasnāt anything special because it wasnāt strong enough in terms of the flavour profile (esp pistachio bc need the nutty kick). The waffles were really one of the better ones Iāve had in terms of flavour BUT the texture can be improved with a crunchier and slightly thick bite imo. It was still an enjoyable dessert to have in a tiny yet cozy space!! Would recommend and return if Iām in the area š
The dish name damn long la I canāt even rmb but the Oven Molten dish ($17.90) was so damn good. Iād say itās perfect for those on a keto diet LOL but the calories are explosive for one. I think their price used to be $13.90 according to my old searches so wow it has sky rocketed but ok justifiable bc dude the portion is HUGEEEEEE!!!!! The ingredients are of better quality and I rly enjoyed every single element of this dish šā¤ļø tho it can get a little surfeiting for one, itās perfect shared, NO RAGRATSSS
Iced White + Earl Grey Croissant ($9)
The coffee was damn power eh omg I loved it, very roasted and deep nutty flavour (very similar to arabicaās imo). The croissant.... omg the freaking earl grey was so prominent and each bite was damn beautiful šššš 10/10 AND LOOK AT THE LAYER GUYS..... ded
Apple Streusel ($8.20)
On the sweeter side, itās soft, moist and flavourful but felt that the apples at the bottom and crumbles on top could have been a little crunchier for a mixture of textures. But still v nice!!!
For a pretty decent pork knuckle at just $10, I think itās worth a visit. The skin was crackling and CRONCH though a little hard at some parts, meat was a mix of tender/tough but I think thatās just how pork knuckles are? The Truffle Mushroom Pasta ($8) was ok, Iād say it is acceptable for price because I actually enjoyed the mushrooms inside (am not a mushroom fan) and pasta was al dente. Portions are really quite decent for their price point so if youāre in the area you can check it out.
