Visited Starter Lab w the parents the other day! It’s quite conveniently located near Tiong Bahru MRT and has a really cute interior that smells of freshly-baked bread and coffee - i mean... who doesn’t like that?? â˜•ïžđŸž

They’re a cafe from Bali, specializing in sourdough bread! I gotta say their bread is really one of the best I’ve tried in SG and despite the hefty price point - $16 for this Honey Marscapone Toast - it’s really pretty bomb đŸ”„đŸ˜©

Verdict: 8.5/10 (super amazing bread & coffee but extremely $$$)

Park Bench Deli is notorious for their spectacular sandwiches that are full of rustic charm, but also chocked to the brim with handcrafted, premium fillings, seasoned and flavoured to perfection.
The Impossible Melt was by far my favourite – seemingly simple but with a world of flavour. You really wouldn’t know it wasn’t real beef! The fries on the side were so damn good too. Hefty pricetags were pretty worth the sizeable portions and impeccabke flavours!

Verdict: 9.5/10

Even though Monarchs & Milkweed does have striking similarities to Gelato veteran, BoP Gelato, they have their own flavour range of unbeatable flavour combos that allow them to hold their fort against BoP. Super creamy texture, not icy at all and flavours are super gao!

Faves are the burnt white chocolate and brown butter sage! Must-gets when you’re there!!

Verdict: 10/10

They see me rollin’ they’re not hatin’ cos this roll was SUPERB. The texture of this roll was practically cloud-like and it was perfumed with the fragrant earl grey tea (speckled with some tea leaves too)! I’m such a sucker for swiss rolls and Cafe Plain Jane does them so so well! Wanna come back for their Thai Tea Roll as well!!!

Verdict: 9.5/10

Hallmarks of a good croissant have to be the honeycomb interior, how flaky it is and how rich the butter taste is – all 3 things that Bakery Brera nails! (Plus their cruffins are SO good) ⁣
⁣
The croissant was $3.70 if I’m not wrong and the cruffins were $5 each! Not bad for quite a hefty pastry! I’ve tried their Kougin Amann too (??) spelling this always gives me a headache... ⁣🍞

Verdict: 10/10

Visited Omote after the LONGEST time pining over their curated chirashi bowls đŸ„ș thomson plaza is SO out of the way for me but it was so damn worth it!! I had the Truffle Garlic Chirashi ($21.90) and bubz had their signature Upsized Chirashi ($18.90) đŸ€©âŁ
⁣
Firstly, I have to say the fish was so fresh and super silky and delicious, none of that fishy aftertaste that puts me off sashimi very often!! đŸ„ș in my bowl there were bits of prawns, tuna, octopus, salmon and i think swordfish? It was all so fresh and it was definitely a great portion of fish for this price point!⁣
⁣
I also loved the SAUCE. Girl... this sauce is not for the faint-hearted. The truffle sauce was literally an assault of truffle and when paired with the garlic chips, oh MAN it was so freaking good??? đŸ”„ i also really liked how the sauce paired with the rice really well despite it being a more modern twist to a chirashi. (I do think it may get quite cloying if you’re not into heavy sauces!!)⁣

Verdict: 9.5/10

The pasta and steak bowl were pretty decent in portion size and with the 1 for 1 deal, it was super worth the money! What caught my eye and tastebuds more, however, was definitely their Matcha Cruffin ($5)! It was super gao and decently crispy, but not as buttery as Brera or Petit Pain. Really enjoyed my brunch here!

So I built my own pasta which contains 100g of pasta – I chose their Cayenne Mafalde, which is a long thick strand of curly wurly pasta. I quite enjoyed the texture of it because the ridges allowed for maximum sauce clingage HAHAHA
⁣
I opted for the alfredo sauce, truffle pate ($3 for a THICC blob), and some king oyster mushrooms. In total, my pasta was $15.90 and I think it was quite affordable and the sauce was really addictive! Especially with that gigantic lump of truffle...

Verdict: 8.5/10

We got their signature Wanton Mee ($5.50) and their Thai Fried Pork ($7) and some extra Deep Fried Wantons ($7). The wanton mee was really springy and the black sauce was super savoury and nice! The chasiew was meh but PLEASE order the fried pork. They’re smothered in fried garlic and super crispy and satisfying!!

Looking back, the Burpple price probably made me sway a little towards the positive side but I wasn’t exactly raving about my Iced Mocha. It was kind of flat...? I think that’s the word to best describe it. I liked that it had a nice chocolatey aftertaste but I liked Sarah’s drink a lot better – an iced white with oat milk. Though she did say usually it tasted better.Overall, I don’t mind going back if it’s in the area, cos it’s $3.50 per coffee with Burpple! Though, maybe I’ll try the oat milk next time round HAHA

These babies are only available after 11am but they are sooo worth the wait. I especially loved how rich the chocolate glaze was and the donut was nicely fried – not too greasy yet still super crisp yet fluffy inside! It was also quite a hefty donut, so $4.50 is not a bad price tag for this rather delicious dessert!

I already love croissants but wow this cruffin truly blew my mind – albeit on the pricey side but it was the perfect blend of my two favourite things, matcha and croissants. It had such a ooey gooey centre and the crust was perfectly flaky... true perfection. However, I did have a gripe about the standard of service. I do understand it was a busy day for them but the service staff had actually left our cruffin in the toaster and forgot to heat it up for us or just heated it up and left it in there for 20 minutes as we waited. When we retrieved the cruffin, it was barely lukewarm. The flavours did sort of make up for it, though.
