The pork sausage patty was too charred for my liking. I suppose this caramelization was due to the sugar that was added into the patty. I was told this is a filipino inspired version. The sweetness took away that porky and meaty flavors. And it was dry. Pickled slaw meant to trim down the sweetness but it did not ease my palate. Kudos for buns made inhouse as many places tend to outsource.

My first visit was more positive due to the fact that I enjoyed the chicken rice. This time round, I have to be a tougher critic because of the cloying sweetness. Having said that, those who like it sweet, this will be up your alley. A strong peppery aroma engulfs the rice. The pepperyness was indeed addictive. Every grain savored. Sweet crab flesh which made me yearn for a slightly more robust white pepper finish. Overall, it was good and I wished I could have more! Especially the chilli crabs, which I might just go back for.

@nosignboardseafood is having a promo now till end April. Only available at the Esplanade outlet. The white pepper crab fried rice and chilli crab macaroni goes at $15++ each. Don't expect humongous crustacean. This was actually enough to satisfy a crablover like me.

The color of the beehoon seems to be darker than usual. A strong taste of the prawn jus but definitely needs alittle more gravy.

Love the rice. Tender flesh that goes so well with the chilli sauce. Moderate spicy heat and had a lingering citrussy tone. Veges were, unfortunately, alittle underdone as I could still taste that rawness. The soup tasted like lotus root, no chicken flavors. Left most untouched as it left an unpleasant aftertaste.

And I met them in the CBD area. A pinch of salt but a whole lot of hae bee hiam embraced each strand of spaghettini. Somewhat there was a hint of sweetness. Flavorsome, indeed. But I wished it had more of a spicy kick.

This statement rang loud in my mind when I walked in @modcafesg . Pleasantly surprised by its interior. All white with just a couple of tables and counter seats by the window. Adjoined to @modsalon which was itself quite pretty.

@bill8cafe just took over this space. (Yes... Bill from @eightcafebar ). Offerings at the moment are just coffee and sweets. The cheesecake seems to be a popular item. I was not in that "cheesy" mood so I had the waffle with a dollop of vanilla ice cream and strawberries with a slight drizzle of maple syrup. Simple, sweet and satisfied the sweettooth.

Good to know. There are power points and wifi available. This place kinda reminded me of a cafe I visited in Sydney. Abit of a hidden gem, ironically in plain sight from the main road.

On an early Sunday morning, the kopitiam was already filled with diners. I reckoned abit of a wait for that spicy bowl of mee. Ranging from $4.50, 5.50 & 6.50 .... small, medium and large respectively. We ordered the medium bowl. It seems portion size has reduced considerably. Portion was equivalent to a "small". Request for added chilli as the heat brings out the "porky" essence. Taste was not hitting the roof "wow" but it certainly satisfy the bak chor meeholic's longing.

If you are a big eater, the "large" is what you need. If not, "small & medium" are enough for nibbling before your next nibbles.

On a side note... eating out at kopitiams and hawker centres does not make one a lesser foodie. Eating at restaurants or slightly more upmarket places does not make one a better foodie.
