Quite a decent eat. I prefer atad more punch to the flavors.

Also ordered the chap chye. Little did I know, it came frozen (did not bother to snap). This came as a letdown because my tummy was rumbling and I had to spend afew minutes boiling and waiting for it to be ready. The taste was quite old fashioned and flavorful.

Taking away food is to me, meant to be quick and ready to eat upon reaching home. Note to self "lesson learnt. Best to check if food is fresh or frozen".

A wonderful marriage made in dessert heaven.

Just 2 ingredients and no need to bake. Using semi sweet chocolate. Melt the chocolate in a bowl over boiling hot water. Stir constantly till smooth. Once done, remove and add peanut butter, using my fave brand, Skippy (amount is up to your whims and fancies). As the chocolate is still warm, the peanut butter will soften alittle. Pour into moulds or cups. Use a skewer or toothpick to do your peanut butter swirls. I prefer rustic looking. Cool then refrigerate in the chiller.

Ordered the meekia, meepok and the signature beetaimak (saw it on @uncle_lim_chiak 's @veronicaphua 's ig). No prizes for guessing which was my favorite. It was indeed plain looking. Every component was white. Gave it a violent toss and sprinkled some chilli padis. It was unexpectedly tasty with umami flavors which brought in mind "looks are deceiving". The meekia and meepok was decent but the chilli sauce was quite mild. I much prefer slightly more heat to entice my appetite.

The thought of pairing with local food is a challenge, at least to me.

Lunch is takeaway from @dadongprawnnoodles . Sweet prawns and broth had a deep sweet seafood tone. Paired with @wolfblass Gold Label Eden Valley 2017 Riesling. Quite surprisingly, the flavors are quite balanced. Wine was alittle dry, bold and had a more acidic finish. The acidity actually toned down that very umaminess of the prawns and broth, thus the sweetness does not become too cloying.

So there you go. Pairing wines with our local foods are just as enjoyable.
