Go!!

The dishes from Punggol Nasi Lemak are so simple yet so delicious. A must try is their fried chicken wings. It's one of the best I've ever eaten from a nasi lemak place (the other one being the fried chicken from Coconut Club but that one's seasoned so it's slightly different).

I do feel that the prices at this place are slightly on the higher side, but what keeps me going back is how they maintain the consistency of the dishes. The sunny side up eggs are pretty, chilli is flavourful, rice is of the right texture, even the ikan bilis are super tasty.

Everything here is rather great, except for the person tending the cashier, who is usually an uncle dressed in shirt and pants. Every single time I'm here I get annoyed at how slow the whole ordering process is. They could really do with some improvements in this aspect.

Go!!!

If you want a Korean BBQ place that will get it's pork belly right, it's 8 Korean BBQ. Their meats are well marinated with the right amount of fats in each strip. Super tender and juicy after cooking.

The Flower Pork Set comes with pork neck steak, pork jowl, and 2 strips of pork belly. I chose garlic and kalbi for my marinates. Yum.

Red miso salmon, soba, broccoli and garlic, grilled pumpkin, cherry tomatoes, furikake, coriander leaves and plum sesame sauce (this was from their list of preset bowls).

Chiak bowls are simple, unpretentious, light and healthy. Because of this, they tend to be on the bland side, and the flavours don’t come through easily. The mains are certainly interesting with chicken chestnut patty and prawn otak but the rest of the components are a bit lacklustre. However, I wouldn’t mind dropping by for that boost of healthy shot.

No!!!!

This used to be my favourite lor mee from Amoy Street Food Centre but since it switched hands... Terrible. It can’t even be compared to your average coffee shop lor mee. Should have known when I didn’t see a queue forming during lunch hour.

My favourite herbal BKT eatery.

The dry BKT in particular is my favourite. It’s intensely flavourful and the chilli gives a shiok kick to the meat. It also comes with cuttlefish which some might feel makes the dish too salty but for me this doubles up as a snack. I would deliberately leave a few strands till the end of the meal just to leave this place with a satisfied tummy.

The Lobster Roll is the classic, must try dish if you’re here for the first time. Large chunks of juicy lobster bits stuffed in a buttered bun and topped with chopped chives is the bomb. I ate this bun by the mouthfuls and each bite I took was filled with lobster. Shiok.

Also tried the Truffle Lobster Roll ($68) which you can read about on my site here: https://littlemissramen.wordpress.com/2017/10/05/pince-pints-duxton-road/

For first timers, do order the assorted meat platter for the variety if you can’t decide which meat to choose.

Having returned for a second time to the Centerpoint branch, I pretty much knew what was my favourite soup base (tomato and sweet corn !!) and dishes. Prices are on the steep side so do choose wisely.

It looks really lip numbing, but SĹŤ's spicy ramen is actually not that spicy, and it's damn shiok! The hot chilli oil is poured over the soup, releasing its furry of flavours.

Tip: drink a cup of hot green tea to wash down the oil.

The texture of the egg noodles is similar to Sarawak Jia Xiang Kolo Mee. It's springy, supple and well cooked. I poked around my friends' bowls and they were all the same consistency. My only complaint for the noodles is that it's not served piping hot. Could be the manner the noodles are cooked to ensure this consistency though.

The wonton bowl comes with torched char siew pork belly which was a tad disappointing for me. While it's well flavoured, I would have preferred the pork belly to be softer. The boiled wontons were normal.

On every table there is a flask of soup which you will pour for yourself with the bowls provided. They definitely spent some effort concocting this soup, and this is exactly what will bring me back to Seng's Wonton Noodles next time.

There’s a reason why Yuzu Raspberry is one of Nesuto’s signature cakes. The cake layers are super soft and fluffy, and the texture is excellent. You might think that it’s going to be a really sour cake because well, yuzu and raspberry but no, it’s actually rather sweet. Love this dessert so much that I was back there again within the month.

If you ever visit Amoy Food Centre, you must queue up for Han Kee. Yes the queue will set you back by half an hour at least during lunch hours, but it is absolutely worth the sweat. If you go early enough, you can request for additional fish egg at a fee.

Han Kee’s soup is really like no other. It’s super shiok, super healthy tasting, super comforting.

Whole wheat pasta, dory fillet, carrots, mushroom medley, sweet corn topping with sliced almonds with pesto vinaigrette as dressing. Have eaten Daily Cut a few times, it always pleases my taste buds. The portions are rather generous, enough for two small eaters.
