Sushi Plus is a recent new addition by Sushi Express. The concept is a zhnged up version of sushi express, having premium options that can be ordered with your phone and delivered on a train (similar to a jap restaurant which starts with gen and rhythms with donkey). The jumbo salmon sushi was very worth it (on offer: $3 for 2 pieces of huge salmon sashimi
Other dishes tried:
Salmon sushi: okayish
Ika sushi: very nice and flavourful
Unagi (thick cut) : good quality but was cold and oils were not rendered well
Quite a famous Hokkien mee in Singapore
Done very traditionally with cut chillis and soy sauce (not sambal). The stock used to make the prawn mee is very very good, very pleasant tasting, with right about of savoriness, umami and sweetness from the pork inside the broth. The squid and prawn was very fresh which was a pleasant surprise as most places cut cost by giving inferior quality seafood with their Hokkien mee
Maybe it's a style thing but this Hokkien mee does not have a lot of wok hei, and the yellow noodles were not dry fried for long so there is still an alkaline taste which isn't necessarily bad.
Overall a good plate of Hokkien mee. Not my favorite but I can see why it has its share of fans. The stock though, probably one of the best among the Hokkien mee stalls in sg
The sauce and marinade is nice, but I was very disappointed that the pork was really tough and dry. It was so tough at parts that I had problems chewing through it. Maybe it is cos it was not freshly roasted, but then again other char siew places don't have that problem.
One of the, if not the best mala Xiang guo in sg. This is perfect for those who dislike a strong cumin taste. The numbing feeling from the sze chuan peppercorns make it more palatable to the newly converted mala fans
Very authentic tasting, just like the ones you get in Hong Kong.
Very nice and refreshing dessert. Everything goes so well together and was really enjoyable to eat
Bought this using Burpple Beyond
Good points first: the Don was decent, salmon was nice and fatty. The salad was pretty nice
About the negative points:
-about the dish: The scallop was not good quality, and different from the ones the photos portrayed
-Price and offerings (disclaimer, this is written in their "menu" under their t&c): the 1 for 1 is for a special Burpple set which consisted of a main, drink, salad and side (note: the side was meant to be a prawn but they changed it to yakitori sticks which were reheated pieces worse than tori q). The "usual price" was supposed to be 29+, but adding the items up in the menu gave me 22 (before adding the off menu chicken yakitori sticks which weren't good). Besides that their existing promotion alr gives u free sides and soup when you order a don so... Not saying anything about how the deal is designed, but having a Burpple special set (which alr consisted of some free things (or not worth it things)), and then giving up a discount leading the price to something not much different from the original, is misleading
But overall a decent chirashi bowl.
Quite expensive, even with Burpple Beyond was about 15+ per person. However given the quality of the unagi it was worth it. The unagi was really nice and fleshy, I would say better than a particular location in bugis famous for their unagi that rhymes with na na.
Classic Hong Kong style polo Bun with a slab of cold butter. Quite authentic in their Hong Kong cha can teng game. The Hong Kong milk tea also had the right amount of tartness and milkiness to it. Quite cheap for a polo Bun. Come during tea time for a polo Bun and milk tea set!
Very decent bowl of dried ban mian. Everything went well together, the sauce and chilli was a good combi with the noodles. Noodles can be more dense though (since its ban mian), and dish can be less watery. There was a poached egg in the soup but think it would have been better on the noodles
A decent pasta. Spaghetti was al dente with a good bite to it. Pasta was cooked with the sauce. Was however a little too salty to me.
Very simple, yet well executed dish.
The onions inside were well sweated, adding sweetness to the entire dish. The mussels tasted really fresh and high quality, and was cooked just right. Everything in the dish, whether the garlic to the onions, to the white wine, worked well together. Very well done dish. Clams may have been a better shellfish for such a sauce though.
