!! the address says yishun, but it’s in AMK! !!

this was a really good bowl of authentic hong kong wanton noodles! the noodles aren’t the same as mee kia, it’s the distinct thin noodles you can get when you eat at a restaurant/eatery in HK. its very qq and al dente, just the way it should be! the broth is clear yet super flavourful, the wantons are quite huge (much bigger than singapore’s wantons, but still smaller than those in HK), and the chili was 💯 for a moment i felt like i was transported back to HK heheh definitely recommend trying this if you’re missing HK noodles! i personally find that its nicer than mak’s noodles 🌝 the coffee shop it’s located in is just opp mayflower MRT and its very clean :)

let me get this out of the way - i’m not a fan of vietnamese food. it just never appealed to me and i never had really good ones before. but we decided to try this place and it BLEW ME AWAY. we ordered the steamed rice paper rolls with chargrilled pork (it’s like chee cheong fun w super flavourful grilled pork), sliced beef pho, and rice noodles with pork. their portions are huge, definitely enough to fill you up. they gave generous portions of meat in all 3 dishes, i would say the meat to noodle/rice rolls ratio is 40:60! the sliced beef was super soft, didn’t taste dry or gamey. the chargrilled pork had a nice burnt/smokey flavour to it, and accompanied with fried shallots that just made the whole dish so tasty! overall, the dishes weren’t too oily and while it was super flavourful, it wasn’t too heavy on the palette either. i was really impressed by this place and i would definitely come back again. really authentic vietnamese food for a reasonable price (considering quality AND quantity). 9/10! :)

i’m sure many have tried this highly raved cafe in serangoon gardens, so i’ll keep it short! their salmon soba really blew me away. i don’t normally like soba but this was so good! the sauce evenly coated the al dente soba noodles (and its served hot, not cold soba) and the fish is pretty fresh! loved the generous amount of furikake on the sunny side too! the truffle fries are actually pretty normal fries you can find at many cafes, nothing too special about it, but it tastes good! not a fan of the miso risotto though! its usually crowded both in the morning and at night, so do make reservations early to avoid the disappointment :)

this is my second time coming here! their pastas are handmade, though not all, it depends on what you order! the pasta portions are a little small, so you probably won’t be full from just eating it alone. we ordered their pizza as well, which is really good! the drinks were about $7/8 per glass? they were having a promotion at the time. and also they gave free bread that you can dip in olive oil and balsamic. the bread is super tasty i felt like i was in italy although i’ve never even been there before HAHAHA overall this is a pretty fancy place and would be good for dates! :)

this is the perfect treat for hojicha and matcha lovers. i’m a fan of both so i had to get this! the ice cream is so creamy and the tea taste for both are really strong (in a good way)! to be honest, i actually prefer the hojicha ice cream to the matcha hehe have yet try their warabi mochi!

we ordered 2 premium omakase platters ($25/person), the highly raved sotong ($19), and 2 pastas ($25 each) that i couldn’t fit into this picture! the sotong is really good! the sotong isn’t rubbery and has a nice bite to it. the sauce has a slight tang from the spicy tomato sauce (its not spicy, so don’t worry) and when you mix it all and the sauce coats the sotong evenly, it comes together perfectly! i believe some of the items on the premium platter changes according to whats in season/what they have in the kitchen, but i think what blew us away was their burrata cheese (under the parma ham). its super fresh and soft! their oysters are also fresh and served very generously with ikura. everything on the platter was good, the only thing that didnt blow me away was the sashimi. the pastas here are handmade and are served al dente! we ordered the bolognese and carbonara. they’re simple everyday pasta dishes but so rich in flavour. we’ll definitely be back here again, and to try their pizza next time! :)

We ordered a cajun chicken and sirloin steak using burpple beyond, and its so affordable (prices stated on the menu are nett!!!!!)! The chicken is juicy and tender, seasoned perfectly and the sauce (on the side) is slightly spicy and tangy. The steak is average, he felt that there was not much flavour to it, but the meat isn’t tough and there is no gamey taste. Not the worst, but not outstanding either. You are able to choose a side that comes with the main, so we both got the potato skins. The skin is crispy and they even added cheese to the potato, totally delicious. For the price you pay, it’s quite worth it! We would definitely go back for the chicken and to try their pork chop! Also, it might get crowded during dinner time as it is nestled under a HDB block (and surrounded by HDBs), so do come earlier or make a reservation :)

I ordered the tsukemen (dipping ramen) and he ordered a lobster mazesoba (dry ramen) and they were both really good! The tsukemen broth is on the sweeter side because the seafood has been infused into the soup. The meat was nicely cooked with a good amount of fat and lean meat, with a subtle charcoal flavour to it. As for the mazesoba, i loved that it had the right balance of flavour (not too salty or spicy) and there was a strong garlic taste, which made the dish really tasty! The place is furbished nicely, a great place to hang and chill with friends!

Just a 5 minute walk from Botanic Gardens MRT, this brunch place is tucked away in a small space at Serene Centre. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and it was quite busy, but we managed to get seats at the counter! Used burpple and we both got Breakfast Works - their big breakfast is really BIG. The first thing i tried on the plate was the scrambled eggs and i fell in love! It was creamy and buttery, totally love at first bite. The brioche slices were toasted on both sides perfectly, and they even gave a few potato wedges and slices of smoked salmon. Super worth it if you use burpple and we really enjoyed it! Their coffee was alright, i don’t think its the best but we would definitely come back here for their big breakfast. Wouldn’t recommend coming here during weekends as it might be a little packed.

I first dined at this outlet when they were called Pasta J, and they were located at Upper Thomson. They have now relocated to Novena and we have yet to go there. I’ve tried their Breakup Steak and Pesto Pasta with Prawns and Squid, and I was blown away both times. The steak is tender, cooked to perfection and so flavourful. I’m not a fan of prawns, but believe me, the prawns in their pesto pasta are the only prawns I actively want to eat (and miss eating). I asked them to switch out the squid for more prawns, because that’s how much I love their prawns! Their twice sautéed shrooms are absolutely delicious as well. Highly recommended because of the great food, and also because you can bring dogs to the restaurant 💕

This is an inconspicuous place at Orchard Gateway, I wouldn’t notice it if I was just passing by. We both ordered the Wagyu Beef Bowl, which is the main highlight. They have other dishes, though not much variety. The egg yolk and sauce created a delicious combination, and together with the flavourful beef slices, we really enjoyed this bowl of goodness! The portion is on the small side, so if you’re not looking for something too heavy, this would be good to try :)

I am a huge fan of garlic so this was a place I wanted to visit for a long time! We used burpple beyond for this and ordered 2 rice dishes. He had the Garlic Sizzling Rice and I opted for the Grilled Chicken and Mushroom Risotto. I love how tender the chicken was, and the garlic taste in the risotto was not too overpowering, but enough to remind you its there with every spoonful. The sizzling rice had fried garlic pieces sprinkled all over the top, it was a really nice touch. Overall, the garlic in these 2 dishes aren’t too overpowering, but it wouldn’t be ideal for first dates/people who don’t fancy garlic. We will definitely be back!
